Advertised recently in Wanderlust, our new itinerary ‘Tracks to Mandalay’ traces a route from Bangkok across the border to lesser-visited regions of southern Burma and travels north through this fascinating country to Mandalay and nearby hill stations.

  • Tracks to Mandalay

    PRIVATE JOURNEY – 21 DAYS – From £4,475
Thailand and Burma are similar in many ways – both exotic, friendly countries that combine exquisite ancient sites with breathtaking natural beauty. Using the region’s rail networks, this journey begins in Bangkok ending in peaceful Hsipaw high in Shan State. In-between, there is a train ride to Kanchanaburi – location of the Bridge over the River Kwai – before heading to southern Burma with stays in Dawei, colonial Mawlamyaing and Kyaiktiyo. After time in Yangon, take the rustic overnight train to Mandalay, then to Maymyo ending with a rail crossing over the spectacular Goitek Viaduct.

Below are two of our suggested itineraries featured in our current newsletter. If you would like to receive our monthly newsletter please enter your email address below.

  • A Journey through South India

    PRIVATE JOURNEY – 23 DAYS – From £3,725
Distinct to the north, exotic South India is a melting pot of cultures and religion. Starting in historic Kochi, join the Nilgiri Mountain Railway to Ooty then on to the wonderful coffee plantation retreat of Tranquil. Visit the sandalwood city of Mysore then fly to Tamil Nadu - a land of dusty plains and spectacular temple cities. Travelling south from Chennai, visit the staggering temple complexes at Mahabalipuram, Chidambaram, Tanjore, Swamimalai and Madurai before returning to Kerala for a private houseboat cruise on the backwaters before relaxing beside the palm fringed Keralan coast.

  • Discover Southern Burma

    PRIVATE JOURNEY – 14 DAYS – From £3,465
Largely undiscovered, the region to the south-east of Yangon is a veritable treasure trove of beautiful scenery, magnificent Buddhist payas and sleepy colonial towns. Predominately exploring Mon State, this overland journey commences in Yangon before visiting bustling Bago, the spectacular Golden Rock pagoda at Kyaiktiyo and charming Hpa-An, capital of neighbouring Kayin State. From Hpa-An visit the historic colonial town of Mawlamyaing, formerly the 19th century capital of British Burma, before relaxing for three nights by the beach at beautiful Ngwe Saung.
