HIGHLIGHTS OF ARGENTINA
Day 1 London to Buenos Aires
Fly overnight from London with British Airways to Buenos Aires.
Day 2 Arrive Buenos Aires
Arrive into Buenos Aires in the morning where you will be met and transferred
to the Sofitel Hotel or the Alvear Palace Hotel for your two night stay. In
the afternoon tour this energetic city where the lifestyle and architecture
is more European than any other place in South America. Places of interest
include the Plaza de Mayo, the main square in the heart of the city, the bohemian
quarter of San Telmo, noted for its colonial buildings, old churches and lively
cafes and the colourful port area of La Boca where tango dancers perform and
artists exhibit their work. Finally visit the famous Recoleta cemetery, where
Eva Peron is buried.
Day 3 Buenos Aires
Today travel by hydrofoil to Colonia del Sacramento, a UNESCO World Heritage
site situated just across the River Plata in Uruguay. Founded in 1680 by the
Portuguese, this old colonial town with its cobbled streets and picturesque
houses is rich in history. (B/L)
Day 4 Buenos Aires to Ushuaia – by air
This morning transfer to the airport for your flight south to Ushuaia the
most southerly town in the world. Set on the shores of the Beagle Channel
against an impressive backdrop of snow peaked mountains Ushuaia is the base
for exploring the Tierra del Fuego National Park. Stay for two nights at the
Las Hayas Resort Hotel overlooking the Beagle Channel outside of the town.

Day 5 Ushuaia
Today cruise the Beagle Channel and its bays to view Sea Lion Island, Estancia
Harberton and the Penguin Colony. (B)
Day 6 Ushuaia to El Calafate – by air
Leave your hotel after lunch and transfer back to the airport for your afternoon
flight to El Calafate, gateway to the magnificent Perito Moreno and the Glaciers
National Park. The Perito Moreno glacier is without doubt one of South America’s
most magnificent sights, and arguably one of the world’s greatest wonders.
Stay for two nights at Posada Los Alamos in El Calafate or upgrade to Hosteria
Los Notros, which is situated inside the park overlooking the beautiful Lago
Argentino and the Perito Moreno glacier. (B)
Day 7 Perito Moreno
&
Day 8 Perito Moreno
Over the next two days view up close the colossal Perito Moreno glacier which
spans five kilometers across and towers some sixty metres above the surface
of the lake. From an observation platform or boat watch as huge chunks of
blue ice shear off the face of the glacier and crash into the waters below.
Also take a boat excursion to the Upsala and Onelli Glaciers. (B/L)
Day 9 El Calafate to Bariloche – by air
This morning leave behind the remote and rugged land of glaciers and fly north
to the alpine climes of Bariloche which is beautifully situated on the southern
shore of Nahuel Huapi – the heart of the Argentine Lake District. Stay
for two nights at the Llao Llao Hotel. (B/L)
Day 10 Bariloche
Today you are at leisure to relax and enjoy the town and views at your own
pace. (B)
Day 11 Bariloche to Iguazu – by air
Leave your hotel after breakfast and fly to Iguazu. Four times wider than
Niagara, the Iguazu Falls are undoubtedly the most dramatic in the world.
On your arrival continue to the Sheraton International Iguazu for two nights.

Day 12 Iguazu
Today take a boat safari up the river to the Iguazu Falls – a cacophony
of thundering water, colourful rainbows and furious torrents make this a breathtaking
sight. (B)
Day 13 Iguazu to Sao Paulo – by air
Spend the morning, when the light is best, on the Brazilian side of the falls
which offer wonderful panoramic views. Later transfer to Cataratas Airport
for your flight to Sao Paulo in Brazil. On your arrival stay up to departure
at the Sao Paulo Airport Marriott Hotel before your evening depart by British
Airways non-stop to London. (B)
Day 14 Arrive London
Arrive into London in the morning.
STAYING ON
Experience the historic colonial northwest Argentinan city of Salta, easily reached by air from Buenos Aires. Stay at the House of Jasmines, a beautiful ranch located on a 300 acre estate in the foothills of the Andes, which is the perfect base to explore the Cafayate Gorge and the charming town of Cafayate in a region noted for its wine making.
Wildlife is most spectacular at the Valdés Peninsula, located at the northern tip of Patagonia. Home to the endangered southern right whale, elephant seal and a high diversity of marine and coastal birdlife, southern right whales can often be viewed during their breeding season from June to mid December. The best time to see elephant seals is from August to October and for penguins from September to November.
Wine lovers will be spoilt for choice in Argentina. The Vineyards of Mendoza, a direct flight from Buenos Aires, is an idyllic wine growing region at the foot of the Andes. Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £6,040. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated.
