Day 1 London Heathrow to Buenos Aires
Fly overnight from London with British Airways to Buenos Aires.
Day 2 Arrive Buenos Aires
Arrive into Buenos Aires in the morning where you will be met and transferred
to the Sofitel Hotel or the Alvear Palace Hotel where you will stay for the
next two nights.
Day 3 Buenos Aires
In the afternoon tour this energetic city where the lifestyle and architecture
is more European than any other place in South America. Places of interest
include the Plaza de Mayo, the main square in the heart of the city, the bohemian
quarter of San Telmo, noted for its colonial buildings, old churches and lively
cafes and the colourful port area of La Boca where tango dancers perform and
artists exhibit their work. Finally visit the famous Recoleta cemetery, where
Eva Peron is buried. (B)
Day 4 Buenos Aires to El Calafate – by air
Leave your hotel after lunch and transfer back to the airport for your afternoon
flight to El Calafate, gateway to the magnificent Perito Moreno and the Glaciers
National Park. The Perito Moreno glacier is without doubt one of South America’s
most magnificent sights, and arguably one of the world’s greatest wonders.
Stay for two nights at Posada Los Alamos in El Calafate or upgrade to Hosteria
Los Notros, which is situated inside the park overlooking the beautiful Lago
Argentino and the Perito Moreno glacier. (B)
Day 5 Perito Moreno
Today view up close the colossal Perito Moreno glacier which spans five kilometers
across and towers some sixty metres above the surface of the lake. From an
observation platform or boat watch as huge chunks of blue ice shear off the
face of the glacier and crash into the waters below. (B)
Day 6 El Calafate to Torres del Paine – 290kms
Depart from El Calafate with your driver on the legendary 40 Route which offers
spectacular views across the Patagonian steppe. Cross the border between Argentina
and Chile at Cancha Carrera and after lunch continue on to the Torres del
Paine National Park. This magnificent park is a UNESCO World Heritage site
because of its unique wildlife and stunning scenery. Stay for three nights
at the Hostería Las Torres or up-grade to the superior Explora Lodge
– minimum stay four nights – strategically set on the shore of
Lake Pehoé with its turquoise waters and views of the Salto Chico waterfall.

Day 7 Torres del Paine

Day 8 Torres del Paine
Two days of sightseeing in Torres del Paine National Park. Visit Nordenskjold
Lake, the spectacular Salto Chico waterfall on Lake Pehoé, Lago Grey
and the beautiful Amarga Lagoon. (B/L)
Day 9 Torres del Paine to Punta Arenas – 400kms
Today it is an interesting and rewarding drive to Punta Arenas stopping en-route
at an estancia for lunch as well as Otway Sound to visit the resident penguin
colony. Stay overnight at the Cabo des Hornos Hotel. (B/L)
Day 10 Punta Arenas to Puerto Montt – by air
This morning you are at leisure in Chile’s southernmost city, a bustling
place of multi-coloured houses and pioneer spirit. In the afternoon fly to
Puerto Montt and on arrival transfer by car to the nearby lakeside town of
Puerto Varas located in Chile’s stunning Lake District. Stay for two
nights at Cabañas del Lago. (B)
Day 11 Puerto Varas
After breakfast, visit the Island of Chiloé, one of Chile’s most
traditional and picturesque islands located just a short ferry crossing off
the west coast of the mainland. Its wooden churches and houses, traditional
customs and crafts combined with wonderful scenery and abundant birdlife make
Chiloé a unique place to visit.(B/L)
Day 12 Puerto Varas to Bariloche – 370kms
This morning leave for a scenic drive along Llanquihue Lake where the Osorno
and Calbuco volcanoes dominate the scenary. Stop to visit Petrohué
Falls before boarding a catamaran to cross the turquoise waters of Todos los
Santos Lake to Peulla, near the border with Argentina. After lunch cross the
border and enter the Nahuei Huapi National Park in the Argentinan Lake District
and continue via Frias Lake and Nahuel Huapi Lake to Bariloche to stay for
three nights at the Llao Llao Hotel. (B/L)
Day 13 Bariloche

Day 14 Bariloche
Today take a morning take a tour around Bariloche and the Nahuel Huapi National
Park, including Campanario Hill. The remainder of your time is at leisure
for local walks or exploring the pretty town of Bariloche. (B)
Day 15 Bariloche to Buenos Aires by air
This morning fly to Buenos Aires and on arrival transfer by car to the Sofitel
Hotel or to the Alvear Palace Hotel for one night. (B)
Day 16 Buenos Aires to London Heathrow
In the afternoon depart by British Airways, via Sao Paulo, to London Heathrow.

Arrive London in the morning.

Experience the historic colonial northwest Argentinan city of Salta, easily reached by air from Buenos Aires. Stay at the House of Jasmines, a beautiful ranch located on a 300 acre estate in the foothills of the Andes, which is the perfect base to explore the Cafayate Gorge and the charming town of Cafayate in a region noted for its wine making.
Wildlife is most spectacular at the Valdés Peninsula, located at the northern tip of Patagonia. Home to the endangered southern right whale, elephant seal and a high diversity of marine and coastal birdlife, southern right whales can often be viewed during their breeding season from June to mid December. The best time to see elephant seals is from August to October and for penguins from September to November.
Wine lovers will be spoilt for choice in Argentina. The Vineyards of Mendoza, a direct flight from Buenos Aires, is an idyllic wine growing region at the foot of the Andes. Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £6,040. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated.
