EXPLORE THE SIWA OASIS

Day 1 London to Cairo
Cairo to Alexandria – 204kms

Fly non-stop with Egypt Air to Cairo. On arrival depart with your driver for Alexandria – approximately a three hour drive – and check in to the Sofitel Cecil Hotel with its expansive views of the Mediterranean.

Day 2 Alexandria
Today tour the city and stroll through the intriguing Montazah Palace Gardens. See the underground Catacombs of Kom el-Shuga, the citadel of Bey and nearby Pompey's Pillar and the famous integrated cultural complex The Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

Day 3 Alexandria to Siwa Oasis – 450kms
Drive into the desert to El Alamein, scene of one of the decisive battles of World War II and a visit to the Allied War Cemetery. Stop for lunch on the coast (lunch boxes will be provided by the Sofitel Cecil Hotel upon check-out) before driving on through the varied desert scenery until you arrive at the oasis enclave of Siwa. Here, the unique Adrere Amellal Ecolodge which will be your base for the next three nights.

Day 4 Siwa Oasis

Day 5 Siwa Oasis

Over the next two days visit the main sites including the El Gabel tombs on the Mount of the Dead complete with mummies from 250 BC, the medieval Shali Citadel and the 2,700 year old Temple of Amun, once visited by Alexander the Great.

Day 6 Siwa to Cairo – 800kms
Today it will be a full day’s drive back to Cairo. The drive will take approximately ten hours. On your arrival in Cairo continue onto the Cairo Marriott Hotel where you will stay for the next for two nights

Day 7 Cairo
At leisure to relax by the pool of your hotel or our local representative can suggest optional sightseeing of Cairo should you prefer to explore the city.

Day 8 Cairo to London Heathrow
In the afternoon transfer by car to the airport for your return Egypt Air flight to London.

STAYING ON

Extend your stay at the beautiful Old Winter Palace Hotel in Luxor to visit the world famous sites at Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens. Comfortably fitted into two extra days, Luxor is linked to the capital Cairo by a daily direct flight or overnight train.

Relax after your tour in Egypt with an extended stay in one of the countries excellent beach hotels. One option would be to from Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh for few days relaxing by the Red Sea at either the Four Seasons Hotel, Hyatt Regency or Ritz Carlton

A Guide to Price – EXPLORE THE SIWA OASIS

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £2,750. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated.
