OVERLAND ROAD SAFARI FROM CAIRO TO LUXOR

Day 1 Cairo to Bahariya Oasis – 370kms
After breakfast leave Cairo with your private English speaking driver/guide by 4WD to Bahariya, gateway to the Western Desert, home to the friendly oasis people and also the site of the Valley of the Golden Mummies. The four villages of this oasis are scattered around a depression surrounded by dunes topped with black volcanic rocks and up until the Middle Ages Bahariya was an ideal stopping place for caravans from the Maghreb enroute to Mecca. Stay overnight at the Palm Village Hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 2 Bahariya to White Desert – 150kms
This morning leave for the White Desert. On the way, you will see the Black Desert, Crystal Mountain and Desert Roses before finally arriving at the White Desert in good time to explore the massive chalk rock formations. Overnight will be spent in Tented Accommodation. (B/L/D)

Day 3 White Desert to Dakhla Oasis – 330kms
Today, after breakfast, visit Farafra Oasis which is noted for its hot springs. Afterwards continue onto the museum of Badr ‘the local artist’ and then onto Dakhla Oasis. Visit the Old Covered City with its oil press, school, courthouse and mud brick houses. Stay for two nights at the Desert Lodge Hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 4 Dakhla Oasis
Explore the area with your guide. (B/L/D)

Day 5 Dakhla Oasis to Kharga Oasis – 190kms
This morning leave Dakhla and drive to Kharga Oasis to visit the El Bagawat Cemetery, the Temple of Hibis and the Temple of Nadura. Stay overnight at the Solymar Pioneer Hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 6 Kharga to Luxor – 300kms
After breakfast, leave Kharga and drive onto Luxor where you will stay overnight at the Old Winter Palace Hotel. (B/L)

Day 7 Depart Luxor
Depart Luxor for your onward destination. (B).

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £1,370. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated.
