ETHIOPIA
The birthplace of mankind, Ethiopia is a land still
barely touched by modern life and continues to maintain
a distinct culture and identity with complex traditions,
firm connections with Christianity and a long distinct
human heritage. Long associated as a barren land of
desert and deprivation, it is only now that visitors
are awakening to the realisation that Ethiopia is far
from this and is infact strikingly diverse, not only
in geography but also in peoples and wildlife. Exceptional
historical remains stand alongside early churches and
majestic castles, mountains tower over the lakes of
the great Rift Valley, serene national parks contrast
with the thunder of the Blue Nile Falls and ancient
tribal villages remind the traveller that Addis Ababa
is the exception rather than the rule. A land of wonder
and enchantment, contrasts and surprises, Ethiopia does
not merely offer a journey through some of the world’s
most breathtaking scenery but also one through the
pages of human history and time.
