JOURNEY TO SHILLONG
Day 1 London to Kolkata
Fly with British Airways non-stop to Kolkata.
Day 2 Kolkata
Arrive Kolkata early this morning and transfer by car to the Oberoi
Grand Hotel. Later today tour the city by car to see some wonderful
landmarks of the British Raj. (B)
Day 3 Kolkata to Dibrugarh – by air
Fly to Dibrugarh in Upper Assam and stay in the colonial Chang Bungalows
which are built on stilts. (B/D)
Day 4 Dibrugarh
Drive to the town of Digboi to visit the Commonwealth War Cemetery.
On your return visit the incredible Bells Temple where there are estimated
to be 200,000 bells. (B/L/D)
Day 5 Dibrugarh
Take a country boat cruise on the Brahmaputra in search of migratory
birds and the elusive Gangetic River Dolphins. (B/L/D)
Day 6 Dibrugarh to Jorhat – 140kms
The Ahons established the kingdom of Assam in the 13th Century and
the town of Sibsagar was the Ahon capital for two centuries. This
morning see the monuments relating to their rule and continue to Jorhat.
Stay overnight at Thengal Manor. (B/L/D)
Day 7 Jorhat to Kaziranga – 80kms
Morning drive to Kaziranga National Park banks of the Brahmaputra
River and in the afternoon visit the eastern range of the park by
jeep. Stay for two nights at the Diphlu River Lodge. (B/L/D)
Day 8 Kaziranga
Early morning and evening game safaris by jeep and on elephant back.

Day 9 Kaziranga to Shillong – 317kms
Today drive to Shillong the hill capital of Meghalaya where the town
still retains a measure of its colonial past. Stay for three nights
at Ri Kynjai which is situated 20kms from Shillong. (B/L/D)
Day 10 Shillong
Make a full day visit to picturesque Cherrapunjee which once held
the record as the wettest place on earth. (B/L/D)
Day 11 Shillong
Explore Shillong visiting the Botanical Garden, Elephant Falls and
Shillong Peak. (B/L/D)
Day 12 Shillong to Guwahati – 104kms
Guwahati to Kolkata – by air
Depart for Guwahati and fly to Kolkata. On your arrival you will be
met and transferred to the Oberoi Grand Hotel where you will stay
overnight. (B)
Day 13 Kolkata to London
Early morning depart for London.

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £3,600. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated.
