THE VALE OF KASHMIR
PRIVATE JOURNEY – 11 DAYS – From £1,975
The enchanting Kashmir Valley is a perfect summer retreat of soft mountain air, pine forests, beautiful lakes and spectacular mountain scenery – all far removed from the sapping summer heat of the northern Indian plains. Starting in Delhi, fly north to Srinagar and explore the surrounding region with visits to Gulmarg, known for its Alpine meadows, mountainous Sonmarg and serene Lake Dal before returning to Delhi by air. Alternatively, extend your time in Kashmir and drive via Kargil to Leh, capital of Ladakh.
OVERLAND TO LEH
PRIVATE JOURNEY – 18 DAYS – From £2,695
One of the great journeys of the subcontinent, this tour is centred on the spectacular Manali to Leh road – one of the highest in the world and a route only briefly open for travel from July to September each year. Starting with three nights in the charming British hill station of Shimla, travel onto Manali then through the Kullu and Chamba valleys to the high Himalayan plateau of Ladakh – one of India’s true frontiers. Here spend six nights in this predominately Buddhist region of ancient monastic centres and remote mountain villages.
A WALK IN THE KUMAON HILLS
PRIVATE JOURNEY – 14 DAYS – From £3,250
Beginning in India’s capital city, this journey combines two wilderness areas, Corbett National Park, India’s oldest wildlife sanctuary, with a trek in the beautiful Kumaon Hills. On arrival in Corbett, explore the reserve with a naturalist and encounter the remarkable variety of wildlife present including elephant, bear, leopard and tiger. From here continue to the beautiful mountain resort of Kalmatia Sangam and undertake a guided three night trek through the Himalayan foothills for a unique insight into the lives of local Kumaon villagers.

Ladakh can also be reached by a spectacular road journey from Shimla, the summer Raj capital of the Himalayan foothills, to Leh which includes a stop en-route in Manali.
LADAKH - VILLAGE EXPERIENCE WITH SHAKTI
PRIVATE JOURNEY – 13 DAYS – From £4,850
Though Ladakh has long been on the map for backpackers, mostly staying in and around Leh, it is has not yet come on the radar of the adventurous luxury traveller. As such, Shakti Himalaya has designed a 'village house' experience that avoids the over commercialisation of Leh and takes you out, off the beaten track to three unspoilt villages in the Indus valley. Please note that that this itinerary is operated on a "join in" basis with other travellers.
SHAYOK RIVER JOURNEY - LADAKH VILLAGE EXTENSION
PRIVATE JOURNEY – 4 DAYS – From £1,450
During the months of August and September Shakti will be offering an exclusive Shayok River journey that will take you along the old Silk Route into the remote Nubra valley. Instead of driving into the Nubra valley like everyone else, Shakti will take you on this three day / two night journey through territory that few, if any, travellers have been to. Please note that that this itinerary is operated on a "join in" basis with other travellers and that it operates as an extension of the 'Ladakh: Village Experience with Shakti' tour.
HIMALAYAN KINGDOMS
PRIVATE JOURNEY – 16 DAYS – PRICE ON REQUEST
The Himalayan landscape becomes more exotic the further east you travel and this unusual tour provides the opportunity to explore this rich diversity. Journey through jungle-covered foothills up into rhododendron forest and within sight of some of the world's highest peaks. Himalayan cultures feature strongly too, with the marvellous Newar architecture and carved wood of the Kathmandu Valley contrasting with the colourful Tibetan Buddhist-style monasteries of Sikkim and Bhutan.
