Rajasthan is famous for its numerous festivals which take place throughout the year. The following are a selection of that you may wish to include when planning your journey.

Pushkar
This fair, near Ajmer, will take place between the 2nd and 10th November 2011, 20th and 28th November 2012 and 9th to 17th November 2013. Around November, at the time of the full moon, this colourful and exciting festival brings together traders and pilgrims for several days of horse dealing, camel racing and festivities. The climax takes place on the night of the full moon when pilgrims gather to bathe in the holy lake.

Marwar
This festival in Jodhpur will take place on the 10th and 11th October 2011, 28th and 29th October 2012 and 17th and 18th October 2013. Focussing on the art and culture of the Jodhpur region, the Marwar Festival is devoted almost exclusively to Rajasthani folk songs and dance.
