Day 1 London Heathrow to Delhi
Fly with British Airways non-stop to Delhi.
Day 2 Delhi
Arrive into Delhi in the early hours and transfer by car to the Taj Palace
Hotel or upgrade to the Taj Mahal Hotel. Later today tour Old and New Delhi
with your local guide. Explore Old Delhi’s dense network of homes, markets,
mosques and alleyways visiting Chandni Chowk by rickshaw, the Jama Masjid,
Red Fort and Rajghat. Later visit Sir Edwin Lutyen’s New Delhi, inaugurated
in 1931 and home to Rashtrapati Bhawan, the official residence of the Indian
President, Rajpath and the imposing India Gate. (B)
Day 3 Delhi to Kota – by train
This afternoon leave your hotel and catch the Jan Shatabdi Express to Kota
where you will be met by your driver. Stay overnight in Kota at the Brijraj
Bhawan Palace Hotel. (B/D)
Day 4 Kota to Bhainsrorgarh – 110kms
via Bundi
Leave Kota and drive to nearby town of Bundi and explore the 17th Century
Taragarh Fort before continuing through the countryside to the historic Bhainsrorgarh
Fort where you will stay for the next two nights. A fortified outpost of the
Kingdom of Mewar, Bhainsrorgarh was built in 1741 AD and has recently been
beautifully converted into a small, five bedroom hotel that transports you
back in time. (B/D)
Day 5 Bhainsrorgarh
Today explore the area surrounding Bhainsrorgarh. The 8th Century Baroli Temples
and the nearby tribal villages are particularly fascinating. Nevertheless,
you may just wish to leisurely boat on the River Chambal and wander the village
that has not changed for centuries. (B/L/D)
Day 6 Bhainsrorgarh to Shahpura Bagh – 200kms
This morning continue onto the small market town of Shahpura and Shahpura
Bagh where you will stay for three nights. The history of Shahpura dates back
over 400 years and the original house was granted to the present family by
Shah Jehan. (B/D)
Day 7 Shahpura Bagh
At leisure to explore the area with your car and driver.(B/L/D)
Day 8 Shahpura Bagh to Udaipur – 200kms
Udaipur to Dungarpur – 140kms
Drive south to Udaipur for lunch before continuing in the afternoon onto Dungarpur
– a 13th Century town famous for being the home of the Bhil tribal people
and, in the surrounding countryside, a birdwatchers paradise. Stay at the
lakeside Udai Bilas Palace for two nights. (B/D)
Day 9 Dungarpur
At leisure. (B/L/D)
Day 10 Dungarpur to Poshina – 200kms
Leave Dungarpur on the bumpy drive through the Aravalli Hills to Poshina.
Just over the state border in Gujarat, stay for three nights in Darbargadh
a small family owned 17th Century Haveli. (B/D)
Day 11 Poshina
&
Day 12 Poshina
Spend the next two days with your hosts exploring the area by jeep. Known
for its tribal people, visit some of the villages where craftsmen still make
traditional terracotta wares, jewellery and hunting weapons. (B/L/D)
Day 13 Poshina to Kumbalgarh – 200kms
This morning it is a picturesque drive through the mountains, villages and
farmland of Rajasthan to visit the famous and historically important Kumbalgarh
Fort. Built mostly by Maharana Kumbha in the late 15th Century the fort is
situated on a ridge of the Aravallis and commands a great strategic position
on the border between the Rajput kingdoms of Udaipur and Jodhpur. Stay overnight
at the Aodhi Resort. (B)
Day 14 Walk to Ranakpur – 12kms
Ranakpur to Deogarh – 120kms
Leave Kumbalgarh and walk down to Jain temples at Ranakpur which are beautifully
preserved and are renowned for their intricate carvings and architecture and
from here journey north to the small market town of Deogarh. Very much family
run Deogarh Mahal is a delightful and charming hotel which has been wonderfully
restored by the family into a small and intimate hotel that is renowned for
its character and heritage. Stay for two nights at Deogarh Mahal. (B)
Day 15 Deogarh
At leisure to enjoy Deogarh Mahal and the surrounding countryside. You may
wish to ride the local train where the line and equipment date from 1923.

Day 16 Deogarh to Nimaj – 140kms
Drive to Chhatra Sagar which comprises of 11 wonderfully designed tents pitched
on a dam overlooking a lake that is noted for its birdlife. The charming Nimaj
family own the site and are all personally involved in looking after guests
whilst the tents are amongst the best of their kind with all of them attractive
and comfortable. The food is prepared by the ladies of the house and comprises
of family recipes passed down over generations resulting in some of the finest
home cooking in Rajasthan. Stay for two nights at Chhatra Sagar. (B/L/D)
Day 17 Nimaj
Due to its location, surrounded by farmland and small villages, a stay here
allows you to experience rural Rajasthan in a way that few other properties
allow you to. Accompanied by one of your hosts you can wander out to explore
the farm, local temples and meet the villagers. (B/L/D)
Day 18 Nimaj to Ajmer – 95kms
Ajmer to Delhi – by train
This morning leave Nimaj and drive to Ajmer in good time to catch the Shatabdi
Express train to Delhi. On your arrival you will be met and transferred by
car to the Taj Palace Hotel or upgrade to the Taj Mahal Hotel. (B)
Day 19 Delhi to London Heathrow
Depart Delhi on the British Airways flight to London Heathrow Terminal Five.
STAYING ON
Sacred Varanasi, India’s holiest city, is only a short flight from Delhi. Located on the banks of the River Ganges, Varanasi is an assault on the senses and, at dawn, a sight to behold.
Wildlife in India is synonymous with the famous Corbett
National Park. Nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, Corbett
is a 300kms drive north of Delhi and a four night stay here, with
your time divided on the perimeter and inside the park, is an excellent
way to observe the wildlife in its natural habitat. Corbett National
Park is only open from the 15th November to the 15th June.
Relax on the beaches of Goa or Kerala – both easily
reached by air direct from Delhi. With a range of hotels to choose from both
locations offer something for everyone and are an excellent way to end a tour.
Time in Kerala could also be extended with a cruise on the backwaters.

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £3,600. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated.
