Corbett Park is situated to the north of Delhi and is bordered by the Himalayan foothills. Established in 1935, this is India's oldest and most romantic wildlife sanctuary. Corbett is named after the hunter -turned - conservationist and author Jim Corbett who lived in the area for many years. The park encompasses a varied terrain ranging from savannah grasslands to deciduous forests and supports a remarkable variety of wildlife such as elephants, bears, leopards and tigers.
BIRDS OF THE KUMAON HILLS
