ELEPHANT TREK FROM CORBETT
These tours are designed for the wildlife enthusiast who wishes to go off the beaten track, do some trekking on elephant back or bird watching in the more remote areas of the Kumaon hills. The elephant trek itinerary offers a unique opportunity to penetrate the forests surrounding Corbett National Park. This is a rugged adventure, ideal for birdwatchers, elephant addicts and those who love wilderness. On safari you will ride on your own elephant for two days with a mahout (elephant driver) and will also be accompanied by a guide, cook and helpers. This is a private safari – you do not travel in a group. Please note that accommodation at the forest rest houses is similar to camping. They were built by the British in the 1890s and consist of very basic accommodation with a fireplace, Indian style toilets and beds with mattresses.
