LAND OF THE TIGER

Day 1 London Heathrow to Delhi
Fly with British Airways non-stop to Delhi.

Day 2 Delhi
Arrive Delhi just after midnight and transfer by car to the Taj Mahal Hotel. Later today tour Old and New Delhi with your local guide. Go by cycle rickshaw through the bazaars of Chandni Chowk to the Jama Masjid mosque. Visit the Red Fort and Rajghat, the site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. Admire the Qutb Minar minaret and then drive along the impressive avenues of Sir Edwin Lutyens’ New Delhi to see Rashtrapati Bhawan and India Gate. (B)

Day 3 Delhi to Jaipur – by air
Jaipur to Ranthambore – 160kms

Early this morning fly to Jaipur where you may wish to visit the city before continuing across country to the Project Tiger Reserve at Ranthambore. The reserve supports a wide range of birds, mammals and insects. The major predator is the tiger and leopards are occasionally seen on the park boundaries. Stay at Khem Villas. (B/D)

Day 4 Ranthambore

Day 5 Ranthambore

Early morning and before dusk visit the reserve by jeep. The water pools harbour marsh crocodile and a rich variety of bird life.(B/L/D)

Day 6 Ranthambore to Bharatpur – 190kms
Early morning viewing at Ranthambore. Later drive to Bharatpur which is considered to be one of the leading bird sanctuaries in the world. Visit the reserve before dusk and stay overnight at The Bagh. (B/D)

Day 7 Bharatpur to Agra – 56kms
Agra to Katni – by train

Early morning bird watching before driving to Agra, after breakfast, for a visit to the Taj Mahal and then depart on the Gondwana Express for the overnight Train journey to Katni.(B)

Day 8 Katni to Bandhavgarh – 100kms
Arrive into Katni early morning and proceed with your driver to Bandhavgarh in the heart of the Vindhya mountain range of central India. A 14th Century fort presides over the reserve and the terrain is dotted with a number of small hills with sal and mixed forests. Bandhavgarh harbours the highest density of tigers, sambar, barking deer, gaur and nilgai in India. This afternoon visit the reserve by jeep. Stay at the Bandhavgarh Jungle Lodge for the next three nights. (B/L/D)

Day 10 Bandhavgarh

Day 11 Bandhavgarh to Kanha – 230kms
An interesting, but bumpy drive south through Kipling country to Kanha National Park, one of the finest parks in Asia. Kanha is home to tiger, bison, leopard and Indian Swamp Deer and stay overnight at Sher Garh Tented Camp. (B/D)

Day 13 Kanha

Early morning and evening viewing by jeep. (B/L/D)

Day 14 Kanha to Pench – 180kms
Early morning viewing at Kanha. After breakfast leave with your driver for Pench to stay for two nights at Pench Jungle Camp. Pench National Park is home to varied and visible wildlife and occupies a beautiful area of teak forest, meandering rivers and open grassland in undulating terrain, at the foot of the Satpura Range. Day 15 Pench
Morning and evening viewing by jeep. (B/L/D)

Day 16 Pench to Nagpur – 100kms
Early morning viewing at Pench. In the afternoon leave for Nagpur to join your evening flight to Mumbai and on arrival transfer to the Leela Kempinski Hotel, near Mumbai airport, for one night. (B/L)

Day 17 Mumbai to London
Depart Mumbai on the British Airways flight to London Heathrow Terminal Five. (B)

A Guide to Price – LAND OF THE TIGER

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £4,500. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated. If you wish to travel alone we will be pleased to assist you with your arrangements and can provide a proposal on request.
