JAVA & BALI – A Cultural Journey
Day 1 London to Kuala Lumpur
Fly with Malaysian Airlines non-stop to Kuala Lumpur.
Day 2 Kuala Lumpur
Arrive in Kuala Lumpur and stay overnight at the Pan Pacific Hotel. (N)
Day 3 Kuala Lumpur to Yogyakarta – air
Yogyakarta to Borobudur
Morning flight to Yogyakarta. On arrival visit the Sultan’s Royal Palace and the Kraton
Yogya complex – a city within a city with a maze of markets, shops and homes. Also visit
the Sono Budoyo Museum noted for its collection of Javanese and Balinese arts and crafts.
In the afternoon visit Kota Gede which is noted to be hub of Yogya’s silver and batik industry
since the 1930s. Stay overnight at the Manohara Hotel which is located inside in the area of the
Borobudur complex. (B/L)
Day 4 Borobudur to Yogyakarta
Witness the sunrise at Borobudur and explore the famous Buddhist temple complex which is the largest
in the world. Also visit the Imogiri Royal Cemetery which lies on a beautiful hill about 12kms from
Yogyakarta. Stay for one night at the Yogya Village Inn. (B/L)./p>
Day 5 Yogyakarta to Solo
Today drive to Solo stopping on the way to see the Hindu temple at Prambanan. On your
arrival in Solo visit the Mangkunegaran Palace, Triwindhu Flea Market and the Radya Pustaka Museum.
Stay overnight at the Lor Inn Resort. (B)
Day 6 Solo to Malang
Continue to Malang with a stop at Trowulan, which opened in 1987 to display and preserve the ever
increasing number of historical treasures discovered in the vicinity of the old Majapahit capital.
Stay for two nights at the Tugu Malang Hotel. (B/L).
Day 7 Malang
A full day to explore Malang and the surrounding countryside with your guide. Surrounded by
volcanoes — Mount Butak to the west, Mount Arjuna to the north, and Mounts Kepolo and Bromo
to the east — Malang is one of the most beautifully situated cities in Java. During the colonial
period Malang was a small quaint town where Dutch Planters and civil servants could escape the heat
of the lowlands. The elegant villas are still in evidence and it is a pleasant town to walk around as
the people are friendly and the climate is a little cooler (B)
Day 8 Bromo to Pemuteran
Early this morning (around 0100 hours) check out from your hotel and depart to Bromo. From Tosari
village ascend by 4WD jeep up to Mt Penanjakan to see the sunrise over Mt. Bromo, Mt. Batok and the
highest peak in Java, Mt. Semeru. Later descend into the Tengger Sand Sea and onto the rim of the
Bromo crater. Leave Bromo and drive along the coastal road to Ketapang for the short ferry crossing
to Gilimanuk in Bali. Stay for three nights in Pemuteran at the Taman Sari. (B/L)

At leisure to relax on Bali’s north–west coast and close by to Bali Barat National Park. (B)
Day 11 Pemuteran to Pacung
Today visit Banjar to visit the only Buddhist monastery on the island with a blend of Balinese and South
Asian architecture including the replica of Borobudur Temple. The site also offers a stunning panorama
view of the northern valley down to the Java Sea. Also visit the Ulun Danu temple dedicated to the god of
fertility and the Pura Bratan temple which are located on the banks of Lake Bratan Bedugul. Stay overnight
at the Saranam Eco Resort (B).
Day 12 Pacung to Marga
Start the day by visiting the Jatiluwih rice terraces noted for their panoramic views, then to the Batukau
Temple and the Royal Temple of Taman Ayun. Stay for one night at the Puri Taman Sari (B).
Day 13 Marga to Ubud
Depart for Ubud, the artistic and cultural heart of Bali. Around Ubud live Bali’s most noted painters, carvers,
weavers, dancers and musicians. Visit the villages of Mas which is noted for its wood carvers, Celuk noted for
its gold and silversmiths and Batubulan to watch the spectacular Barong and Keris Dance symbolizing the eternal
fight between good and evil spirit. Also visit the Bali Bird and Reptile Park which houses the largest and finest
collection of Indonesian birds in the world, plus exotic birds from Africa and South America. Stay for two nights
in Ubud at the Pertiwi Ubud Hotel (B)
Day 14 Ubud
At leisure. Much of the charm of Ubud lies in the beauty of the surrounding countryside and the unspoilt
local villages which are well worth exploring on foot or by bicycle. In the centre of Ubud the Museum Puri
Lukisan contain examples of 20th Century Balinese art. (B)
Day 15 Ubud to Candidasa
Today visit the beautiful Besakih temple – the holiest site on Bali. Besakih is not one temple but a
complex of twenty–two temples that lie scattered over the southern slopes of Mount Agung. The most
important temple of all is the Pura Penataran Agung, the Mother Temple of Bali. Drive down to Kertagosa
to see the 18th Century House of Justice, a superb example of Klungung architecture followed by a visit
to a traditional ‘ikat’ weaving village of Tenganan and Goa Lawah, or bat cave. Stay two nights at the
Puri Bagus Hotel on Bali’s east coast. (B)
Day 16 Candidasa
At leisure. (B)
Day 17 Candidasa to Sanur
After breakfast further east to see the Taman Ujung water palace and the Tirtagangga water palace in
Amlapura. Then travel via the back roads to the villages Sibetan known for its Salak plantations,
the village of Duda, noted for its stone carving Bone, the centre of Bali’s bamboo industry. Finally
arrive in Sanur and stay for two nights at the Tandjung Sari Hotel (B).
Day 18 Sanur
At leisure to relax before your journey home.
Day 19 Denpasar to Kuala Lumpur – by air
Kuala Lumpur to London
Day 20 Arrive London
Arrive early morning in London Heathrow.

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £3,300. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated. If you wish to travel alone we will be pleased to assist you with your arrangements and can provide a proposal on request.
