ORANGUTAN ADVENTURE

Day 1 London Heathrow to Singapore
Fly with Singapore Airlines non-stop to Singapore.

Day 2 Singapore to Denpasar
Arrive Singapore and connect to your onward Singapore Airlines flight to Denpasar. You will be met on arrival and transferred to the Puri Santrian Hotel where you will stay for the next two nights. (N)

Day 3 Denpasar
Day at leisure to relax and acclimatise. (B)

Day 4 Denpasar to Ubud
Depart by car from your hotel for Ubud, the artistic and cultural heart of Bali. Around Ubud live Bali’s most noted painters, carvers, weavers, dancers and musicians. Also take time to visit the villages of Mas, Celuk and Batubulan which are noted for their carvers, gold and silversmiths and Barong dancers. A visit will also be made to the 11th Century Goa Gajah ‘Elephant Cave’ rock temples. Stay overnight at the Pertiwi Ubud Hotel. (B)

Much of the charm of Ubud lies in the beauty of the surrounding countryside and un-spoilt local villages which are well worth exploring on foot or by bicycle. In the centre of Ubud the Museum Puri Lukisan contains examples of 20th Century Balinese art.

Day 5 Ubud to Candidasa
After breakfast leave for Candidasa on the east coast. En-route visit the Penataran Sasih Temple and Tampaksiring dating from 984AD where the holy springs are thought to have mystical powers. Continue onto the beautiful Besakih Temple, the holiest and most important temple on Bali. Besakih is not one temple but a complex of 22 temples that lie scattered over the southern slopes of Mount Agung. The most important temple of all is the Pura Penataran Agung which is also the Mother Temple of Bali. After lunch visit Putung Hill which offers beautiful views of rice terraces in East Bali. Later continue onto Candidasa where you will stay overnight at the Puri Bagus Candidasa Hotel. (B)

Day 6 Candidasa to Pacung
Today visit the traditional ‘ikat’ weaving village of Tenganan and Goa Lawah before returning inland to Kertagosa to see the 18th Century House of Justice, a superb example of Klungung architecture. In the afternoon drive through the countryside of Bali to see the Ulun Danu Temple by Lake Beratan. Stay overnight at the 3* Saranam Eco Resort in Pacung. (B)

Day 7 Pacung to Kuta
Depart for Denpasar via the Batukau Temple, the Royal Temple of Taman Ayun and Tamah Lot perched on a tiny rock off the coast. Stay at the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel overnight. (B)

Day 8 Kuta to Banjarmasin – by air
This morning leave Kuta and drive to Denpasar where you will catch your onward flight to Banjarmasin. On your arrival you will be met and transferred to the Arum Hotel where you will stay overnight. (B)

Day 9 Banjarmasin to Pangkalan Bun – by air
Pangkalan Bun to Kumai

This morning fly to Pangkalan Bun Airport where you will be met and driven to Kumai to board the boat. A traditional Klotok wooden river boat about 12m by 2.5m with an upper deck, this is the perfect place to view the rain forest as it glides by. The guide's team includes the boatman, a cook and expert guide. In the afternoon slowly explore the river and observe the wildlife. Spend three nights at the Rimba Lodge. (L/D)

Day 10 Visit Camp Leakey
After breakfast board the boat to travel up river for about two hours. Continue onto Camp Leakey – the Orangutan research centre – and where the older orangutans are reintroduced into the rain forest. Later trek through tropical rainforest searching for wildlife, wild orangutans, birds and other rainforest animals before returning to the boat for lunch. Afterwards witness feeding time for the Orangutans. (B/L/D)

Day 11 Visit Pondok Tangguy, Pesalat & Tanjung Harapan
After breakfast sail up to Pondok Tanguy, the rehabilitation centre for the orangutans in time for feeding. Afterward continue to Pesalat re-plantation camp where you will be able to see the rain forest at close hand. In the afternoon visit Tanjung Harapan rehabilitation centre for another feeding time and this evening enjoy a night walk in the local forests. (B/L/D)

Day 12 Kumai to Pangkalan Bun
Pangkalan Bun to Denpasar – by air
Denpasar to Kuta

Today transfer to Kumai and then onto Pangkalan Bun Airport in good time for your flight to Denpasar. On your arrival continue onto Kuta where you will stay two nights at the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel. (B)

Day 13 Kuta
At leisure. (B)

Day 14 Kuta to Denpasar
Denpasar to Singapore
Singapore to London Heathrow

Today transfer to Denpasar airport for your Singapore Airlines flight to London Heathrow via Singapore. (B)

A Guide to Price – ORANGUTAN ADVENTURE

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £2,570. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated. If you wish to travel alone we will be pleased to assist you with your arrangements and can provide a proposal on request.
