CLASSIC JAPAN

Day 1 London to Tokyo
Fly with British Airways non-stop to Tokyo.

Day 2 Tokyo
On arrival you will be met and transferred by the airport limousine bus to the Peninsula Hotel for your three night stay. (N)

Day 3 Tokyo
This morning tour Tokyo with your guide. Places of interest include the Imperial Palace, the Ginza district - the first area to be developed for Western-style shopping - and Tsukiji Fish Market the source of the capital's endless sushi and sashimi. Later visit Edo Tokyo Museum, home to the world's largest collection of Japanese Art, and end your day at the Asakusa Kannon Temple. (B)

Day 4 Tokyo
Leave Tokyo for a full day visit to Nikko, a sacred site containing many shrines and mausoleums. Visit the Toshogu Shrine, Yomeimon Gate, a World Heritage Site, and Rinnoji Temple and ending at the spectacular Kegon Waterfall before returning to Tokyo. (B)

Day 5 Tokyo to Hakone – 165 kms
This morning leave Tokyo and drive to Mount Fuji and Hakone National Park stopping en-route at Lake Kawagichi and the Itchiku Kubota Museum. In the afternoon take a boat cruise on Lake Ashi and later ascend a cable car for a birds-eye view of Mount Fuji. Stay overnight at the Ryuguden Ryokan and enjoy a traditional Japanese Ryokan dinner. Day 6 Hakone to Takayama via Nagoya – by train
This morning transfer by taxi to nearby Odawara railway station to join the Bullet train to Nagoya. On your arrival in Nagoya connect with the Express train for the two and a half hours journey to Takayama in the Japanese Alps. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the Hotel Associa Takayama Resort for your two night stay. (B)

Day 7 Takayama
This morning visit Takayama's open air market and then begin a walking tour of this traditional and charming town. Visit Jinya Manor House, Takayama Yatai Kaikan, Kusakabe Folk Museum and Sa-Machi Suji Street in the old town to see the Junya houses. (B)

Day 8 Takayama to Kanazawa
This morning proceed by car to Kanazawa via Lake Miboro and Shirakawa-Go and explore the ancient villages. Continue to Kanazawa and stay overnight at the Hotel Nikko. (B)

Day 9 Kanazawa to Kyoto – by train
Today visit the beautiful Kenrokuen Garden, Nomura Samurai House and Ninja Temple. In the afternoon take the train to Kyoto and on arrival make your way to the Granvia Kyoto Hotel for three nights. (B)

Day 10 Kyoto
A full day city sightseeing tour of Kyoto. Visit the famed Kinkakuji Temple, Nijo Castle, Heian Shrine, Kiyomizu Temple and Kyoto Handicraft Centre. In the evening take a short guided walking tour around the Gion District which is noted for its old traditional teahouses. (B)

Day 11 Kyoto
Today visit Nara to see the Todaiji Temple, home to the largest wooden Buddha in the world, the Deer Park, Kasuga Grand Shrine and the Horyuji Temple. (B)

Day 12 Kyoto to Tokyo – by train
This morning leave your hotel and transfer by taxi to Kyoto railway station for the Bullet Train to Tokyo. On your arrival in Tokyo transfer by taxi to the Peninsula Hotel for your one night stay. (B)

Day 13 Tokyo to London Heathrow
This morning take the limousine bus to Tokyo airport in good time to catch the British Airways non-stop flight back to London. (B)

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from PRICE ON REQUEST. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated.
