of Japan even while the emperor lived in Kyoto, the imperial capital.

city and then see the nearby Sumo Museum for background to this popular
sport. This afternoon you will be treated to a Geisha performance
before exploring the Senso-Ji Temple, a Buddhist temple dedicated
to the bodhisattva Kannon, and the excellent artisanal shops in Asakusa.

night-time lights of the city. (B)

Imperial family. Explore the colourful and fascinating markets surrounding
Tokyo's famous Tsukiji fish market. In the afternoon relax a little
while at Hamariku Gardens, one of Tokyo's many immaculately tended
green spaces. In this pleasant atmosphere, experience the traditional
Japanese tea ceremony. This evening travel to the Roppongi Hills area
and take in the city from the 52nd floor Observatory of the 'Tokyo
City View' building. (B)
