Based on staying in some of the finest small, luxury, boutique hotels of the region, your journey starts in the capital Colombo before heading north, via the elephant orphanage of Pinnawela, to Kandalama and the famed Cultural Triangle. From here continue onto Kandy, tea country, Yala National Park and historic Galle before ending on the beach at the luxurious Reef Villa.

In the centre of the country is the beautiful lakeside town of Kandy, the last capital of the Sinhala kings and site of the famous Temple of the Tooth Relic. End your journey with a visit to the old colonial hill station of Nuwara Eliya which, almost always wreathed in dawn mist, completes the complex tapestry that is Sri Lanka.
