HILL TRIBE ADVENTURE

Day 1 Bangkok to Chiang Mai – by air
This morning leave Bangkok and fly to Chiang Mai situated by the Ping River in a high valley at the foot of Doi Suthep Mountain. On your arrival you will be met and transferred to the charming Tamarind Village Hotel, situated in the centre of town close to the vibrant night market. (N)

Day 2 Chiang Mai
Today visit the city and its principal temples including the ancient Wat Phrathat on Doi Suthep Mountain. Chiang Mai is the largest centre for cottage industries in Thailand and in the afternoon you are at leisure to explore the city further. (B)

Day 3 Chiang Mai to Kup Kap
Leave Chiang Mai and drive to Pha Mieng before commencing a trek to the remote village of Hmong Pha Mieng. In the afternoon it is a two hour trek up to the village of Pha Daeng followed by an hour trek along the ridge to the Lahu village of Kup Kap to stay overnight at the Out Post Lodge. (B/L/D)

Day 4 Kup Kap to Lisu Lodge
This morning leave your lodge and trek downhill to Huay Sadhan waterfall before an afternoon river raft to the village of Muang Gurt and, final bike ride downhill to Lisu Lodge. Situated in the heart of the hill country Lisu Lodge offers a unique insight into the culture of the hill tribe people. Set within a Lisu village the lodge was built with the objective of contributing directly to the life of the village by supporting aid projects such as safe water, farming and education. (B/L/D)

Day 5 Lisu Lodge to Bangkok
This morning you are at leisure to either relax or visit the local Lisu village and the Ton Lung Temple. In the afternoon depart Lisu by ox-cart to the village of Ban Pang Mai Deang before driving back to Chiang Mai Airport in good time to catch your return flight to Bangkok. (B/L/D)

STAYING ON

Extend your time in the Chiang Mai Valley and proceed from Lisu Lodge to Khum Lanna, where they offer lessons in Thai cooking, traditional weaving and bamboo basketry.

Discover neighbouring Laos, only a short journey north from Chiang Rai. Relatively undiscovered no visit to Laos is complete without a stay in Luang Prabang – a picturesque riverside town and religious centre of temples, monuments and palaces.

Delay your return home and unwind on the world renowned beaches of Phuket, Krabi or Koh Samui. There are direct flights to each of these from Bangkok.

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £****. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated.
