Day 1 London to Bangkok
Depart London on the British Airways flight non-stop to Bangkok.
Day 2 Arrive Bangkok
Arrive into Bangkok in the afternoon and transfer by car to the Sukhothai
Hotel (N).
Day 3 Bangkok
Eccentric, intriguing and unforgettable are just some expressions used to
describe this colourful and intriguing city. With your guide set out by boat
and see some of the daily life on the Chao Phraya River adjoining canals.
Visit the beautiful Grand Palace, including the superb Temple of the Golden
Buddha and Wat Phra Kaeo and perhaps end the day in one of city’s bustling
markets. (B)
Day 4 Bangkok – visit the River Kawi
This morning drive to Kanchanaburi, 128kms west of Bangkok, which is the site of
the well known ‘Bridge over the River Kwai’. Take a train ride across the bridge
and, after lunch at a local restaurant, visit the JEATH Museum before ending your
visit at the nearby World War II Cemetery. On your return to Bangkok visit Pra
Pathom Chedi – one of the largest pagoda complexes in Thailand. (B)
Day 5 Bangkok to Ayutthaya – 75kms
Today leave Bangkok with your car, driver and guide for the journey towards
Ayutthaya. Visit the Bang Pa In Summer Palace and then continue by long tail
boat to Ayutthaya’s stunning ruins. Founded approximately around 1350 AD, Ayutthaya
was the capital of Siam for over four hundred years until it was sacked in 1767 by
the advancing Burmese. Stay overnight at the Iudia Resort. (B/L)
Day 6 Ayutthaya to Phitsanuloke – 303kms
Drive on to Saraburi to visit Wat Phra Phrabudhabat – one of the most popular an
important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in central Thailand. Continue your journey
towards Phitsanuloke stopping en-route in Lopburi to visit San Phra Karn, the Monkey
Temple, and Prang Sam Yod, the Three Spire Pagoda. Finally visit Wat Phra Sri Ratana
Mahathat, built in 1357, the Wat houses one of the most beautiful and highly venerated
Buddha images in Thailand. Stay overnight at the Pattara Resort. (B/L)
Day 7 Phitsanuloke to Chiang Mai – 361 kms
This morning continue to Sukhothai, an ancient walled city and first capital of
Old Siam founded in 1238 AD and one of the most important archaeological sites
in Thailand. Afterwards continue onto Lampang, to visit Wat Phra Kaeo Don Tao.
A royal temple believed to have been founded in the 7th Century AD, the Wat is
best known for its carved wooden ceilings and columns which are inlaid with
porcelain and enamel. Later this afternoon arrive in Chiang Mai and stay for
two nights at the Tamarind Village. (B/L)
Day 8 Chiang Mai
Situated in a high valley at the foot of the Doi Suthep Mountain, Chiang Mai
is a relaxing escape from the heat of the lowlands. Cooler than the southern
cities Chiang Mai is now the country’s second city but retains the charm of a
small town. Attracting people from far and wide with its distinct cuisine, landscape
and culture, it is little wonder that Chiang Mai has developed into one of Thailand’s
most charming destinations.
This morning visit Wat Chiang Man, the oldest temple within the city walls built by King Mengrai in 1296 and Wat Phra Singh, located in the centre of town and Chiang Mai’s most important and largest wat. Later continue to Mount Suthep, climbing over 1,000 metres, to visit the spectacularly sited Wat Phrathat. At the base it is a 300 step climb to the summit with its 24 metre high chedi and the panoramic views are unparalleled. Later, if time permits, also visit Bo Sang and San Kam Phaeng to see umbrella, silverware and other traditional hill tribe handicrafts being made.
Day 9 Chiang Mai to the ‘Golden Triangle’ – 270kms
Continue north via Chiang Rai to Sop Ruak in the heart of the “Golden Triangle” to
stay for three nights at the Anantara Golden Triangle Resort. (B/L)
Day 10 Golden Triangle

Over the next two day explore the Golden Triangle where the borders of Burma,
Thailand and Laos meet at the intersection of the Mekong and Ruak Rivers. Visits
will be made to some Hmong hill tribe villages and by long tail boat from Chiang
Khong to see the ancient town of Chiang Sean. (B/L).
Day 12 Golden Triangle to Chiang Rai – 74kms
Chiang Rai to Phuket – by air
This morning leave Sop Ruak and drive the 70kms back to Chiang Rai in good time
to catch your onward flight to Phuket via Bangkok. Stay for stay for four nights
at the Anantara Resort. (B)

Day 16 Phuket to London via Bangkok
In the afternoon fly from Phuket to Bangkok and in the evening join the British
Airways non-stop flight to London. (B)
Day 17 Arrive London
Arrive into London Heathrow.

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £3,450. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated.
