Day 1 London to Bangkok
Depart London on the British Airways flight non-stop to Bangkok.
Day 2 Arrive Bangkok
Arrive into Bangkok in the afternoon and transfer by car to the Royal Orchid
Sheraton Hotel or upgrade to the Peninsula Hotel. (N)
Day 3 Bangkok
Today tour the city to see the beautiful Grand Palace, including the superb
Temple of the Golden Buddha and Wat Phra Kaeo. A visit will also be made to
Wat Arun and the Temple of Dawn. (B)
Day 4 Depart Bangkok – Mekhala Cruise
In the afternoon join Mekhala, a restored teak rice barge with air-conditioned
cabins dining area and a viewing deck. Commence your cruise up the Chao Phraya
River and after sunset dock at Wat Kai Tia, a temple set in a rural Thai village.

Day 5 Bang Pa-In to Phitsanuloke – 330kms
Disembark at Bang Pa-In to view the Summer Palace and then continue by long-tail
boat to Ayutthaya to see the ruins of Thailand’s former capital. In
the afternoon continue by car to Phitsanuloke to visit one of Thailand’s
most sacred Buddha images, the Phra Buddha Chinaraj. Stay overnight at the
Amarin Lagoon Hotel. (B/L/D)
Day 6 Phitsanuloke to Lampang – 250kms
This morning visit the nearby ancient walled city of Sukhothai, the first
capital of Old Siam founded in 1238 AD, to visit the historical park noted
for its fine monuments. Continue on to the famous Khmer ruins at Si Satchanalai
and then drive through scenic countryside to the Lampang River Lodge. (B/L/D)
Day 7 Lampang to Chiang Mai – 95kms
Today drive north to Chiang Mai via Wat Phra Kaeo Don Tao, a superb Burmese
style temple, and Lamphun, noted for the sacred Wat Haripoonchai Temple. Arrive
into Chiang Mai where you will stay at the charming Tamarind Village Hotel
or upgrade to the Mandarin Oriental Dhara Devi Resort. (B)
Day 8 Chiang Mai
Today visit the principal temples including the ancient temple on Mount Suthep
with its panoramic views over Chiang Mai. Also visit Bo Sang and San Kam Phaeng
to see umbrella, silverware and other traditional hill tribe handicrafts being
made. (B)
Day 9 Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son – by air
This morning take a short flight to Mae Hong Son near the Burmese border to
stay for two nights at the Tara Mae Hong Son Hotel or at the Fern Resort,
which is ideal for nature lovers. Isolated by rugged mountains, the unspoilt
Mae Hong Son valley is one of the last areas in the north where traditional
customs and culture survive. Alternatively, you can end this tour in Chiang
Mai and fly back to Bangkok. There are also direct daily flights from Chiang
Mai to Phuket and on certain days of the week to Luang Prabang in Laos. (B)
Day 10 Mae Hong Son
At leisure to relax and enjoy Mae Hong Son. (B)
Day 11 Mae Hong Son to Khum Lanna – 297kms
Today it is a scenic drive to Khum Lanna, a spacious teak house, situated
close to the Chiang Mai Valley. Khum Lanna is the ideal place to appreciate
the surrounding mountains and paddy fields, with its wide balconies and lovely
gardens. (B/D)
Day 12 Khum Lanna
At leisure to enjoy a short Thai cooking lesson or take a cycle ride through
the beautiful countryside. (B/L/D)
Day 13 Khum Lanna to Sop Ruak – 220kms
This morning visit the local market of Mae Malai then drive north to the mountain
town of Chiang Dao to see the caverns which contain an assortment of Buddha
images. Stay two nights at the Anantara Golden Triangle Hotel in Sop Ruak
or upgrade to the Four Seasons Tented Camp. (B)
Day 14 Sop Ruak
Today explore the Golden Triangle where the borders of Burma, Thailand and
Laos meet at the intersection of the Mekong and Ruak Rivers. Visits will also
be made to some villages along the river. (B)
Day 15 Sop Ruak to Chiang Rai – 70kms
Chiang Rai to Bangkok – by air
Depart Bangkok
This morning leave Sop Ruak and drive the 70kms back to Chiang Rai in good
time to catch your onward flight to Bangkok. In the evening join the British
Airways non-stop flight to London. (B)
Day 16 Arrive London Heathrow
Arrive into London Heathrow.

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £3,450. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated.
