Day 1 London to Bangkok
Depart London on the British Airways non-stop flight to Bangkok.

Day 2 Arrive Bangkok
Arrive Bangkok in the afternoon and transfer by car to the Peninsula Hotel.

Day 3 Bangkok
Today tour the city to see the beautiful Grand Palace, including the superb Temple of the Golden Buddha and Wat Phra Kaeo. A visit will also be made to Wat Arun and the Temple of Dawn.

Day 4 Depart Bangkok - Mekhala Cruise
In the afternoon join ‘Mekhala’, a restored teak rice barge with air-conditioned cabins, dining area and viewing deck. Commence your cruise up the Chao Phraya River and just after sunset dock at Wat Kai Tia, a temple set in a rural Thai village.

Day 5 Bang Pa-In to Phitsanuloke - 330kms
Disembark at Bang Pa-In to view the Summer Palace and then continue by long-tail boat to Ayutthaya to see the ruins of Thailand’s former capital. In the afternoon continue by car to Phitsanuloke to visit one of Thailand’s most sacred Buddha images, the Phra Buddha Chinaraj. Stay overnight at the Amarin Lagoon Hotel.

Day 6 Phitsanuloke to Lampang - 250kms
Visit the nearby ancient walled city of Sukhothai, the first capital of Old Siam founded in 1238, to see the historical park, which is noted for its fine monuments. Continue on to the famous Khmer ruins at Si Satchanalai and then drive through scenic countryside to the Lampang River Lodge.

Day 7 Lampang to Chiang Mai - 95kms
Today drive north to Chiang Mai via Wat Phra Kaeo Don Tao, a superb Burmese style temple and Lamphun noted for the sacred Wat Haripoonchai temple. Arrive Chiang Mai a bustling city, situated in a high valley by the Ping River and at the foot of the holy Mount Suthep. Stay at the charming Tamarind Village Hotel, which is situated in the centre of town, close to the colourful night market.

Day 8 Chiang Mai
Today visit the principal temples including the ancient temple on Mount Suthep with its panoramic views over Chiang Mai. Also visit Bo Sang and San Kam Phaeng to see umbrella, silverware and other traditional hill tribe handicrafts being made.

Day 9 Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son - by air
This morning take a short flight to Mae Hong Son near the Burmese border to stay for two nights at the Tara Mae Hong Son Hotel or at the Fern Resort, which is ideal for nature lovers. Isolated by rugged mountains, the unspoilt Mae Hong Son valley is one of the last areas in the north where traditional customs and culture survive. Alternatively, you can end this tour in Chiang Mai and fly back to Bangkok. There are also direct daily flights from Chiang Mai to Phuket and on certain days of the week to Luang Prabang in Laos.

Day 10 Mae Hong Son
At leisure to relax and enjoy Mae Hong Son.

Day 11 Mae Hong Son to Lanna Farm - 297kms
Today it is a scenic drive to Lanna Farm, a spacious teak house, situated close to the Chiang Mai Valley. Lanna Farm is the ideal place to appreciate the surrounding mountains and paddy fields, with its wide balconies and lovely gardens.

Day 12 Lanna Farm
At leisure to enjoy a short Thai cooking lesson or take a bicycle ride through the beautiful countryside.

Day 13 Lanna Farm to Sop Ruak - 220kms
This morning visit the local market of Mae Malai then drive north to the mountain town of Chiang Dao to see the caverns, which contain an assortment of Buddha images. Stay two nights at the Anantara Golden Triangle Hotel in Sop Ruak.

Day 14 Sop Ruak
Today explore the ‘Golden Triangle’ where the borders of Burma, Thailand and Laos meet at the intersection of the Mekong and Ruak Rivers. Visits will also be made to some villages along the river.

Day 15 Sop Ruak to Bangkok - by air
Drive 70kms to Chiang Rai and fly back to Bangkok. In the evening join the British Airways non-stop flight to London.

Day 16 Arrive London Heathrow
Arrive London Heathrow.
