1 London Heathrow to Bangkok Depart
London on the Thai Airways non-stop flight to Bangkok.
Day 2 Bangkok to Yangon
- by air
Arrive Bangkok in the morning and connect directly onto
the non-stop flight to Yangon (Rangoon). Rest of the day
at leisure to relax. Stay at The Governor’s Residence
Hotel for two nights.
Day 3 Yangon
Tour this colourful city visiting the Chaukhtatgyi a colossal
reclining Buddha, the beautiful Kandawgyi Lake and admire
the sunset over the Shwedagon Pagoda.
Day 4 Yangon to Mandalay
- by air Mandalay to Maymyo - 42kms
Fly to Mandalay and on arrival it is a scenic drive up to
the hill station of Maymyo known for its lovely lake, botanical
garden, colourful markets and colonial buildings. The main
street of Maymyo forms part of the famous Burma Road that
winds north to the town of Lashio and to the Chinese border.
In the afternoon take a pony and trap tour around the town
and stay overnight at the Kandawgyi Hill Resort.
Day 5 Maymyo to Mandalay

This morning return to Mandalay, to visit the ancient royal
capitals of Amarapura and Inwa and the U Bein Bridge, the
world’s largest teakwood bridge. Stay at the Sedona
Mandalay Hotel for two nights.
Day 6 Mandalay
Take a short boat ride up-river to Mingun the site of the
world’s largest intact bronze bell, weighing 87 tonnes
and the Mingum pagoda. Return by boat to Mandalay to visit
the Mahamuni Pagoda, Shwenandaw Monastery, and enjoy the
sunset from Mandalay Hill.
Day 7 Mandalay to Mount
Popa - 284kms
Today it is a scenic drive south to Mount Popa, said to
have risen from the earth in a volcanic eruption in 442BC.
Mount Popa is home to Spirit Gods or Nats, and many pilgrims
come here to perform ceremonies at the numerous ‘nat
shrines’ - a fascinating sight. Stay overnight at
the Mount Popa Resort with its scenic views of the entire
region. Alternatively, join the RV Pandaw in Mandalay for
a one or two night cruise from Mandalay to Bagan. Further

Day 8 Mount Popa to Bagan
- 56kms
Morning drive on to the ancient city of Bagan, one of the
most important archaeological sites in Asia. Visit the Shwezigon
Pagoda, which is surrounded by thousands of temples and
pagodas dotting the vast flood plain of the Irrawaddy. At
sunset end the day with a marvellous panoramic view of the
pagodas. Stay at the Thiripyitsaya Sakura Resort for two
nights.
Day 9 Bagan
At leisure to explore and enjoy the city at your own pace.
Alternatively, you may wish to end your tour today and return
by air to Yangon, to stay one night at your hotel, before
flying back to Bangkok on Day 10 and to London on Day 11.
Day 10 Bagan to Heho - by
air
Heho to Kalaw - 106kms
Fly to Heho and proceed by car on a scenic drive through
the rolling hills of the western Shan State to the caves
at Pindaya, which contain thousands of Buddha statues. Continue
through pine forests to Kalaw, once a popular hill station
for the British. Today this charming town still retains
an aura of its colonial past. Stay overnight at the Hill
Top Resort.
Day 11 Kalaw to Inle Lake
- 56kms
This morning drive to Nyaung Shwe to take a boat ride on
the beautiful waters of Inle Lake. You can see the unique
‘leg rowing’ fishermen and the stilted homes
and floating gardens of the Intha people. Stay at either
the Inle Princess Resort or the Lake View Resort for two
nights.
Day 12 Inle Lake
Further sightseeing around Inle Lake including a memorable
visit to Indein village with its 16th century pagodas.
Day 13 Inle Lake to Heho
- 34kms Heho to Yangon - by air
In the afternoon drive back to Heho airport for the flight
to Yangon and stay overnight at The Governor’s Residence
Hotel.
Day 14 Yangon to Bangkok
- by air
In the morning visit Scott Market, noted for its variety
of handicrafts. Afternoon return by air to Bangkok to connect
onto the Thai Airways flight to London.
Day 15 Bangkok to London
Heathrow
Depart Bangkok, just after midnight on the Thai Airways
flight back to London.
