LAND OF THE ASCENDING DRAGON
Day 1 London to Bangkok
Fly with Thai Airways on the non-stop flight to Bangkok. (N)
Day 2 Bangkok to Hanoi - by air
Arrive into Bangkok in the morning and connect onto the Thai Airways flight
to Hanoi, the capital of modern day Vietnam. On your arrival you will be met
and transferred to the Sofitel Metropole Hotel where you will stay for the
next two nights. (N)
Day 3 Hanoi
Today absorb the sights of the city by car, foot and cyclo. Visit the National
Museum, Literary Temple, Ho Chi Minh’s former residence and mausoleum
as well as the Old Quarter. (B)
Day 4 Hanoi to Ha Long Bay - 165kms
Leave Hanoi and drive to Ha Long Bay, a beautiful location characterised by
spectacular limestone pinnacles that jut from the sea. On your arrival join
the Ginger Junk Boat for your overnight stay. A wooden vessel, the Ginger
Junk Boat is a classic yacht luxuriously designed with every modern comfort.
The afternoon will be spent onboard cruising Ha Long Bay. (B/D)
Day 5 Ha Long Bay to Hanoi – 165kms
Spend the morning cruising Ha Long Bay, stopping at colourful grottoes and
secluded beaches. In the afternoon sail through the picturesque Red River
Delta to the small village of Hai Duong for the unique spectacle of an outdoor
water puppet show before returning to Hanoi in the afternoon. Stay overnight
at the Sofitel Metropole Hotel. (B/L)
Day 6 Hanoi to Hue - by air
Leave your hotel this morning and fly to the old imperial city of Hue on the
banks of the Perfume River. In the afternoon tour this picturesque city visiting
the Imperial Citadel, the Royal Palace and Mausoleums of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh.
Stay for two nights at La Residence Hotel & Spa. (B)
Day 7 Hue
This morning enjoy a river cruise to see some of the many imperial mausoleums.
Also explore the Thien Mu Monastery and Pagoda – Hue’s oldest
and most beautiful temple. (B)
Day 8 Hue to Hoi An – 140kms
Leave Hue by car and drive south, via the spectacular Hai Van Pass, to Danang.
This rural journey is considered to be one of the most beautiful drives in
Vietnam. Stop en-route in Danang, the former capital of the Kingdom of Champa,
and visit the Cham Museum, before driving the short distance via China Beach
to Hoi An where you will stay for three nights at the Victoria Hoi An Resort.

Day 9 Hoi An
Historic Hoi An is a small town on the banks of the Thu Bon River 32kms south
of Danang. Originally an important port, Hoi An is home to many beautiful
buildings that have been influenced over the centuries by contact from China,
Japan and France. This morning take a walking tour of the town to see the
Japanese Covered Bridge dating from the 16th Century, the Hoi An Museum, ancient
backstreets and the Chinese Assembly Hall. (B)
Day 10 Hoi An

Day 11 Hoi An to Danang – 32kms
Danang to Ho Chi Minh City – by air
This morning return to Danang and the airport to fly south to Ho Chi Minh
City, Vietnam’s largest and most vibrant city. Established as a Khmer
trading port on the banks of the Dong Nai River, the city was officially renamed
Ho Chi Minh City in 1975 at the end of the Vietnam War. With a decided French
influence, Ho Chi Minh City is a place of pagodas, street markets, boulevards
and a largely devout Catholic population. Stay for three nights at the Park
Hyatt Saigon Hotel. (B)
Day 12 Ho Chi Minh City
Today visit the Presidential Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace,
and one of the most fascinating sights in the city. Other places of interest
include the site of the former US Embassy and the vibrant Chinatown. In the
afternoon drive out of the city to either the famous Chu Chi Tunnels or the
colourful Cao Dai Great Temple at Tay Ninh. (B)
Day 13 Ho Chi Minh City
Enjoy a full day excursion to the rich flood plains of the Mekong Delta. Experience
a boat ride along the Co Chien River to the village of Long Thanh and the
Phan Thanh Giang temple. Walk along the riverbank to visit local houses and
exotic fruit gardens. (B/L)
Day 14 Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok - by air
This morning at leisure to relax. In the afternoon join the Thai Airways flight
back to Bangkok. (B)
Day 15 Bangkok to London Heathrow
On your arrival in Bangkok connect onto Thai Airways back to London Heathrow.

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £4,100. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated.
