THE SPLENDOURS OF ANGKOR & LUANG PRABANG

Day 1 London Heathrow to Bangkok
Depart London on the British Airways non-stop flight to Bangkok.

Day 2 Bangkok to Siem Reap - by air
Arrive into Bangkok in the afternoon and connect onto the Bangkok Airways flight to Siem Reap where you will stay at the Pansea – La Residence d’Angkor Hotel for the next four nights. (N)

Over the next three days visit the Angkor Wat temple complex the ancient capital of the Khmer empire. One of the most spectacular and revered religious monuments ever built, the complex has mesmerised generations of explorers and is the spiritual and cultural heart of Cambodia. Explore the colourful markets in Siem Reap, see the sunset over Angkor and take a boat ride to see the fishing villages on Tonle Lake. (B)

Day 6 Siem Reap to Phnom Penh - by air
Fly to the capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, a city nestled on the banks of the Mekong and Tonle Rivers. Although a vibrant city, Phnom Penh exudes a provincial charm, which is reflected in its boulevards and colonial buildings. Stay for two nights at the superb Raffles Le Royal Hotel. (B)

Day 7 Phnom Penh
Today is spent sightseeing in the city. Places of interest include the Royal Palace, built in 1866 by the French, the Silver Pagoda and the National Museum which houses a good collection of Khymer archaeological, religious and artistic artefacts from the 4th to 13th Centuries. There is also an optional afternoon excursion to the Killing Fields and Toul Sleng Museum. (B)

Day 8 Phnom Penh to Vientiane – by air
This morning leave Phnom Penh and fly to Vientiane. The modern-day capital of Laos, Vientiane is situated on the banks of the Mekong River. Stay for two nights at the Settha Palace Hotel. (B)

Day 9 Vientiane
Today explore Vientiane with your guide. Places of interest include That Luang, a 3rd Century Stupa, as well as the magnificent temples of Wat Phra Keo and Wat Sisaket built during the reign of King Anou. (B)

Day 10 Vientiane to Luang Prabang – by air
This morning fly to the ancient royal capital of Luang Prabang set amongst beautiful hills on the banks of the Mekong. With its historic temples this UNESCO world heritage town is a wonderful place in which to explore and relax. Stay for three nights at the Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel. (B)

Day 11 Luang Prabang

Day 12 Luang Prabang

Two full days sightseeing in and around Luang Prabang. This sleepy riverside town is the religious centre of Laos and contains many important temples. The impressive Royal Palace currently houses the renowned Golden Buddha. Walk through the town to enjoy the market and colonial houses and take a pleasant trip upriver to see the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, which contain thousands of ancient Buddha statues. (B)

Day 13 Luang Prabang to Bangkok - by air
Today fly back to Bangkok and on arrival stay at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel or upgrade to the Peninsula Hotel which overlooks the Chao Phraya River. Bangkok is a city of variety, charm and inspiration best characterised by the beauty of the Grand Palace and the colourful the floating markets. (B)

Day 14 Bangkok to London Heathrow
This morning visit the Grand Palace, the superb Temple of the Golden Buddha and the reclining Buddha. A visit will also be made to Wat Arun and the Temple of Dawn. In the afternoon you are free to explore the city on your own. Later this evening depart for London. (B)

Day 15 Arrive London Heathrow
Arrive into London Heathrow in the morning.

STAYING ON

Extend your stay into Thailand and join the Luangsay Cruise for either one or two nights travelling through remote mountainous stretches of the Mekong River to the northern Thai border at Houeisay.

Delay your return home and unwind on the world renowned beaches of Phuket, Krabi or Koh Samui. There are direct flights to each of these from Bangkok.

A Guide to Price – THE SPLENDORS OF ANGKOR & LUANG PRABANG

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £3,970. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated. If you wish to travel alone we will be pleased to assist you with your arrangements and can provide a proposal on request.
