ESSENCE OF GEORGIA
Day 1 London to Tbilisi
Depart London Heathrow on the BMI flight via Baku in Azerbaijan to
Tbilisi (Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday only), where will
be met and transferred to the Radisson Blu Hotel for two nights.
Day 2 Tbilisi
This morning take a walk through old Tiflis and visit the Metekhi
church, Synagogue and the Sioni Cathedral then drive up to Narikala
Fortress which has fine views over the old town. Later this afternoon
extra the New Town which includes a visit to the National Art Museum
and a stroll along Rustaveli Avenue. (BL)
Day 3 Tbilisi to Telavi – 210 kms
Leave Tbilisi and drive to the 18th Century fortified town of Sighnaghi
which has stunning views of the Caucasus. In Signaghi visit the
ethnographical museum. Continue to Telavi via Bodbe Nunnery and Gremi
architectural complex. Stay overnight at the Rcheuli Marani Hotel. (BL)
Day 4 Telavi to Tbilisi – 190 kms
This morning visit the local market and the 11th century Alaverdi
cathedral. Visit Tsinandaly family estate with its beautiful park and
ancient wine cellar. Later take lunch at Gurjaani wine house where you
will be able to see the old wine press. Wine is made according to the
Georgian tradition and stored in large pitchers buried underground.
Stay one night at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Tbilisi. (BL)
Day 5 Tbilisi to Gudauri
This morning head to the ancient capital Mtskheta to visit the Jvari
Monastery and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral – both of which are UNESCO
World Heritage sites. Later, drive via the Ananuri Church to Kazbegi
(Stepantsminda) and take a two hour walk to the 14th century Gergeti
Church which stands at 2180 metres. Continue to the ski resort of
Gudauri where you will stay overnight at the Alpine Hut Hotel. (BLD)
Day 6 Gudauri to Tbilisi – 270 kms
Leave Gudauri and drive down to Stalin’s home town of Gori where you
will be able to visit his house. Afterwards visit the Uplistsikhe cave
town, which dates from the 1st Millennium BC, before returning to
Tbilisi and the Radisson Blu Hotel for your overnight stay. (BL)
Day 7 Tbilisi to London
Early morning transfer to Tbilisi airport for BMI flight to London
via Baku (Thursday, Saturday and Monday only), arriving London Heathrow
in the afternoon local time.

Prices vary according to selected airlines, hotels and season, however, an indication to the current cost of this itinerary is from £2,050.00. All prices are per person and are based on a minimum of TWO persons travelling together and sharing a twin bedded room with meals as indicated. If you wish to travel alone we will be pleased to assist you with your arrangements and can provide a proposal on request.
