Dance Styles from Around the World

Simon Colley

April 29th is International Day of Dance, which is the perfect time to celebrate the fabulous performing art which plays an integral role in so many cultures and countries around the world.

Dance is a way of expressing ourselves and telling a story, and in many cultures certain types of dance hold celebratory, spiritual and traditional values.

Dance is important to us at Pettitts Travel, as it is a key part of life for many of the local people in the destinations we serve. In fact, our destinations have provided the world with some of the best dances around, including the samba and the tango.

So we wanted to mark International Day of Dance in a truly special way, by celebrating the unique, awe-inspiring and iconic dance styles from around the world. To do this we have created a showcase of some of the most weird and wonderful dance styles from across the globe.

Have a look at our graphic below to find out more about different dance styles around the world.

We know that dance is not only an incredible form of entertainment and symbolism, but it is also something that can change lives. So we wanted to utilise this occasion to really make a difference through dance. That is why we have teamed up with The Flying Seagull Project to help bring happiness to children around the world through performing art.

The Flying Seagull Project is a charity which brings joy to vulnerable and disadvantaged children through dance lessons, arts workshops, music coaching, circus shows and other forms of performing art.

To help support the incredible work carried out by The Flying Seagull project we will be offering 100 sets of the 10 dance prints in return for a donation to the charity.

The set of prints on offer are featured below, and showcase some of the wonderful dance styles from around the world.

To donate to The Flying Seagull Project and request your set of prints simply donate on our JustGiving page.

Once you have donated please forward your confirmation email along with a note of your delivery address to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

We have 100 set of prints available. Donations will be accepted until 11.59pm on 31st December 2018, or until all 100 sets have been ordered. Prints will be sent out after 1st January 2019. The donation amount is at your own discretion.

About The Flying Seagull Project

Flying Seagull Project2

Professional entertainer Ash Perrin founded The Flying Seagull Project in 2008 to bring happiness to children who are underprivileged, marginalised or suffering. The UK-based charity currently has 20+ entertainers engaged in arts workshops, music and dance lessons, circus shows and clown doctoring. Together they’ve spread love, light and laughter to more than 100,000 children in hospitals, orphanages, deaf/blind schools, refugee camps and slums around the world. The Flying Seagulls believe that it is everyone – man, woman or child’s – right to put aside the cares of life and smile for a while. That is why they decided to work with varying groups across the world to help bring smiles and happiness to people.
