This interesting and varied itinerary begins in the stylish capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires before travelling south to Patagonia with a brief visit over the border into Chile to the spectacular Torres del Paine National Park. On returning to Argentina, visit the truly breathtaking Glaciers National Park before entering Brazil home to the vast Iguazu falls. The final stage of this journey is in the archetypal vibrant and colourful atmosphere of the famous Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro.

Itinerary Highlights

Dramatic mountain spires, shimmering blue glaciers and yellow pampas make up Torres del Paine National Park. A paradise for walking, cycling and horse-riding.

Los Glaciares National Park near El Calafate includes the vast, blue Perito Moreno Glacier. As the glacier approaches the Argentino Lake it is 5kms wide and 74m high.

Beyond Copacabana’s sandy shores and Sugarloaf Mountains iconic peak, Rio de Janeiro is a vibrant city with a passion for music and a flair for samba.

Fly overnight from London Heathrow with British Airways to Buenos Aires.
Arrive into Buenos Aires in the morning where you will be met and transferred to your accommodation. (N)
Accommodation in Buenos Aires: Sofitel Hotel (or similar)
Take a guided tour through this cosmopolitan city divided into barrios or neighbourhoods, each different, yet full of character. Visit the Plaza de Mayo, the main square in the heart of the city, the bohemian quarter of San Telmo, the colourful port area of La Boca and the famous Recoleta cemetery, where Eva Peron is buried. (B)

Early morning fly to El Calafate. You will be met on arrival by your driver and continue on the legendary 40 Route which offers spectacular views across the Patagonian steppe. Cross the border between Argentina and Chile at Cancha Carrera and after lunch continue on to the Torres del Paine National Park. This magnificent park is a UNESCO World Heritage site because of its unique wildlife and stunning scenery. (B)

Chile's Torres del Paine National Park is the most recognized symbol of Patagonia. This remote and beautiful area encompasses mountains, glaciers and lakes and is a habitat for guanaco, condor and the native flightless rhea. In the company of specialist guides visit Nordenskjold Lake, Salto Grande waterfall, Lake Pehoé, Lake Grey and Amarga Lagoon. (B/L/D)

Depart from Torres del Paine with your driver. Cross back over the border between Chile and Argentina and continue to El Calafate. (B)

Today view up close the colossal Perito Moreno glacier which spans five kilometres across and towers some sixty metres above the surface of the lake. From an observation platform or boat watch as huge chunks of blue ice shear off the face of the glacier and crash into the waters below. (B)

This morning fly to Iguazu via Buenos Aires. You will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel. (B)

Four times wider than Niagara, the Iguazu Falls are undoubtedly the most dramatic in the world. This morning take a boat safari up the river to the Iguazu Falls—a cacophony of thundering water, colourful rainbows and furious torrents make this a breathtaking sight. Later transfer to Iguazu Airport for your flight to Rio de Janeiro. (B)

Spend the day sightseeing with your guide. This morning enjoy a visit to Corcovado Mountain to see the immense statue of Christ the Redeemer and the nearby Tijuca Forest. Also visit Santa Teresa, a charming bohemian district, noted for its colonial and 19th Century buildings. After lunch visit the historical area of the city, stopping at Cinelandia Square with its historical buildings including the beautiful Municipal Theatre, the National Library and the National Museum of Fine Arts. This morning you will be at leisure. In the afternoon take the cable car ride to Sugar Loaf Mountain from where the sunset views over the city are breathtaking. Rio de Janeiro is an inspiring city of contrasts and the mountains, ocean, beaches and architecture all add to make a memorable stay. (B)
