Tribal people, rare species and dramatic landscapes, vast Brazil is a country of extremes with over three million square miles to explore. Rio de Janeiro is a city of sandy beaches, opulent old world hotels, bars and enough beautiful buildings, museums and galleries for culture lovers. Nearby are the colonial towns of Paraty, Tiradentes and Ouro Preto whilst to the south the waters of the spectacular Iguassu Falls meet on the cusp of three countries. To the west are the remarkable Pantanal wetlands and to the north-east enticing white-sand beaches and the cultural melting pot of Salvador da Bahia with its vibrant African air. No trip to Brazil is complete without a visit to the Amazon which covers over half of the country – a habitat offering the richest diversity of flora and fauna on earth. We have over 30 years experience in planning tailor-made holidays and tours to Brazil.

Places to visit in Brazil

The largest country in South America, Brazil is known for its colourful carnivals, palm-fringed beaches, exotic wildlife and samba but there is much more on offer across this diverse nation. In south east Brazil tour Rio de Janeiro and marvel at Christ the Redeemer, explore the colonial towns of Paraty, Tiradentes and Ouro Preto or relax on Buzio’s golden shores. From here travel south to visit the thundering Iguacu Falls that are shared with neighbouring Argentina. Depending on the time of year, visit the mighty Amazon or the Pantanal wetlands in Western Brazil both of which offer legendary wildlife viewing encounters. The north east of Brazil has some of the best beaches in the country, in particular Praia do Forte, Olinda and the coastline close to Fortaleza. Vibrant Salvador is brimming with Portuguese colonial architecture and a deep-rooted African heritage.

When to Visit brazil

Brazil is a huge country and its climate varies greatly from region to region. As a general rule, the winter in Brazil falls between June and August and summer hits its peak during January. It can become very hot in summer with the temperature regularly reaching 30⁰C and close to 40⁰C in the northern and central areas. Brasilia, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are all in the warmest part of Brazil with it possible to visit the latter two cities the year round. Manaus and the Amazon region is hot throughout the year and due to its tropical climate rainfall and high humidity should always be expected. For ease of navigation and the best wildlife viewing, the Pantanal should be visited during its dry season which runs from April to October.

Brazil, Argentina and Chile Holiday Review

“Finally home after our wonderful trip to South America. We had an amazing time and we cannot thank you enough for your support and services. There is no doubt that the trip would not have been as brilliant without your recommendations and the quality of your guides in Brazil and Argentina.”

Accommodation in Brazil

Brazil has everything from heritage hotels and luxury beach resorts to boutique guesthouses and jungle lodges. It is also possible to join a cruise to explore the Amazon River and the wildlife that call this incredible part of the country home. There are also a number of excellent lodges in the Pantanal. In general, in the larger cities of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Brasilia and Salvador hotel standards are high and most properties offer a full range of facilities and amenities. In the colonial towns of Minas Gerais most accommodation is in charming traditional pousadas.
