North East Brazil and Beaches
Colourful and relaxed, friendly and with a decidedly African flavour the north east of the country is quintessential Brazil. Here historic colonial cities pound with the beat of drums and the best beaches in South America are but a stone’s throw away. The state of Bahia and its capital of Salvador is the main draw. Salvador is probably the most unique and interesting city in Brazil and the Portuguese built UNESCO protected old centre is a delight. Inland, the historic diamond mining town of Lençois and striking scenery of Chapada Diamantina National Park are well worth visiting. For relaxation, the north east has excellent beach retreats with Praia do Forte, charming Olinda and the beaches close to Fortaleza great options. For wildlife visit Lençois Maranhenses National Park close to colonial Sao Luis. Every holiday and tour to north east Brazil that we design is one-off, memorable and special.
