It can be argued that nowhere on earth has the diversity of flora and fauna as Brazil and this itinerary combines this natural beauty with the main cultural sites. Starting in Rio de Janeiro, fly to the spectacular Iguassu Falls which are four times wider than those at Niagara. From here fly to Manaus and explore the heart of the Amazon before flying to the UNESCO protected city of Salvador. End your journey relaxing by the beach at Praia do Forte.

Visit Rio de Janeiro’s iconic sites including the towering Christ the Redeemer statue, tropical Tijuca Forest, spirited Santa Teresa district and mighty Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Immerse yourself in some of nature’s finest work as you experience the sheer force of the mesmerising Iguazu Falls located on the Agentine-Brazil border.

With its beautiful colonial architecture, vibrant Afro-Brazilian culture and palm-fringed shores, Salvador is a city alive with colour, passion and energy just waiting to be explored.

Fly overnight from London Heathrow with British Airways to Rio de Janeiro. (N)
Arrive in the morning where you will be met and escorted to your accommodation. Afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy this vibrant city (B)

Spend the day sightseeing with your guide. This morning enjoy a visit to Corcovado Mountain to see the immense statue of Christ the Redeemer. Also visit Santa Teresa, a charming bohemian district, noted for its colonial and 19th Century buildings. After lunch visit the historical area of the city, stopping at Cinelandia Square with its historical buildings including the beautiful Municipal Theatre, the National Library and the National Museum of Fine Arts. Morning tour by Jeep to Tijuca, known as the world’s largest urban forest. The forest with its beautiful trees, creeks and waterfalls has an excellent, well-marked trail system. In the afternoon take the cable car ride to Sugar Loaf Mountain, from where the sunset views over Rio are breathtaking. (B)

Leave your hotel after breakfast and fly to Iguaçu Falls. Four times wider than Niagara, the Iguaçu Falls are undoubtedly the most dramatic in the world. (B)

Today take a boat safari up the river to the Iguaçu Falls – a cacophony of thundering water, colourful rainbows and furious torrents make this a breathtaking sight. (B)

In the morning fly via Sao Paulo to Manaus, the modern capital of Amazonas, the largest state in Brazil. (B/L/D)

Two full days exploring the region including visits to the monkey jungle, a local Caboclo house to meet its Amazonian residents and alligator spotting deep within the Amazon jungle. Take a boat trip to see the spectacular 'meeting of the waters' where the black waters of the River Negro and the brown waters of the Solimoes River meet. (B/L/D)

This morning fly via Brasilia to Salvador, the capital of the state of Bahia. With its kaleidoscope of cultures this is one of the most unique and interesting cities in the country. (B)

Spend the day sightseeing with your guide in the historic old town recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage Site and noted for its colonial architecture. It was in this old town that the Portuguese built their fortified city and their influence is still clear today. Visit the heart of the old town and walk through the narrow, cobbled streets lined with ornate churches and houses painted in pastel colours. (B)
