Canadian Rockies Holidays
Spanning the provinces of British Columbia and Alberta, the Canadian Rockies are a vast area of dramatic high mountain scenery, rolling vineyards, turquoise lakes, pristine glaciers and an abundance of both animal and birdlife. This region is commonly accessed from either Vancouver or Calgary and, for many, this region is Canada at its most grand. Relax aboard the iconic Rocky Mountaineer train to enjoy fine panoramic views in comfort or hit the road to better explore the remote back country. A morning’s drive from Vancouver, the lush Okanagan Valley is home to some fine wineries whilst the national parks of Glacier and Banff are ideal for the more adventurous with hiking, climbing and canoeing amongst a whole host of available outdoor activities. Harder to access, UNESCO protected Kootenay National Park in British Columbia and Yoho National Park boast hot springs, waterfalls and pristine forest home to moose, elk and bear. No journey to the Canadian Rockies is complete without a journey on the spectacular Icefields Parkway where you can follow what is arguably Canada’s finest road to Jasper National Park, an internationally important ecosystem home to Canada’s largest population of grizzly bears.
