Wherever you stay, the days will be spent leisurely exploring this special riverine landscape. Tiled and thatched cottages bright with hibiscus dot the embankments, cantilevered Chinese fishing nets hang over the water’s edge and, despite the tranquillity, life abounds with children playing in the water, women attending to their daily chores and men fishing from their canoes. The backwaters are a morning’s drive from Kochi and close to the beaches of the Malabar Coast.
