A land-locked country, Laos is dominated by the mighty Mekong River which flows through the western flank of the country. Rural and largely undeveloped, life here carries on much as it did hundreds of years ago and there are a myriad of sights and experiences for the traveller. For many, Laos is defined by the sleepy riverside town of Luang Prabang with its historic temples and UNESCO protected core. From here travel north to visit remote minority villages or head south to the enigmatic Plain of Jars and capital city Vientiane. In southern Laos the spectacular temple complex at Wat Phou and waterfalls close to the Cambodian border are a particular highlight. Cruises can also be taken on the Mekong River either north to Thailand or in the area surrounding Champassak. We have over 25 years’ experience planning tailor-made holidays and tours to Laos.
