Morocco - North of the Atlas

11 days from £2690 per person

Often overlooked by visitors to Morocco, the region north of the Atlas Mountains contains a wealth of cultural and natural treasures. Explore the intricate alleyways of the old city of Fes and the Roman artefacts at Volubilis. Heading north you are rewarded with the beautiful, laid-back hill town of Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains. Completing the journey northwards brings you to the bustling, white port city of Tangier. As you drive south along the Atlantic coast, the capital, Rabat and the cosmopolitan city of Casablanca welcome you with history and impressive architecture.

Route: Fes – Chefchaouen – Tangier – Rabat – Casablanca

Itinerary Highlights

Enjoy the cultural exchange of Fes, Morocco’s oldest imperial city; from striking tiled palaces to walking through a heady haze of aromatic spices in the maze of colourful souks.

Situated in the Rif Mountains, picturesque Chefchaouen is known for its vivid blue buildings and local handicrafts of woollen clothes, woven blankets and strong goat’s cheese.

The port of Tangier on the Strait of Gibraltar has been gateway between Africa and Europe since Phoenician times. The white-washed medina is home to sultan’s palace and many cafes.

Morocco Holiday Review

“You may be interested in our impressions of a marvellous trip. The programme was well balanced and and gave a good overview of the interesting country. By alternating town and countryside we got a good idea of ancient and modern Morocco.

The local organisation had obviously done its job and accomplished it smoothly. A lot of praise goes to our driver, Mr Hassan, who was always cheerful and helpful, but above all an excellent driver.”
