Complete with your own private car and guide, sit back and relax as you journey through the highlights of Transylvania. Starting in the dynamic capital, Bucharest has an energetic soul that’s home to a fascinating mix of architecture and the colossal Palace of Parliament. Delve into the heart of Transylvania, journeying through the spectacular Carpathian Mountain range with overnight stays in Brasov, a city brimming with Saxon heritage and gothic churches, and Sighisoara, the beautiful medieval town where you’ll hear myths about Dracula echoing down the cobbled streets. Continue on to Cluj-Napoca and Sibui, Romania’s cultural core, where stony streets lead you to pretty courtyards and time-worn medieval buildings. In Sinaia, visit Peles Castle, a Neo-Renaissance castle nestled in the Carpathian Mountains, as well Bran Castle, which is closely linked to the legend of Dracula.

Soak up Brasov’s medieval charm as you embark on a walking tour of the town, including a stop outside the Black Church, the most iconic gothic style monument in the country.

Visit Peles Castle, a Neo-Renaissance castle close to Sinaia in the Carpathian Mountains, one of Romania’s most popular and cultural hotspots.

Amble along the cobbled streets within the fortified town of Sighisoara, a remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site that has close links to Vlad the Impaler and vampire myths.

Itinerary: Highlights of Transylvania

Today you begin your journey by boarding your international flight to Bucharest. On arrival you will be transferred by a private driver to your centrally located hotel. Enjoy dinner at your hotel this evening. (D)
Accommodation in Bucharest: Novotel Bucharest City Centre (or similar)
This morning you’ll begin discovering Bucharest. To start, your guide will take you to the Palace of Parliament, the second-largest administrative building in the world (after the Pentagon in the United States). Continue with a visit to the Village Museum and a boat trip on Herastrau Lake. Lunch is included today. This afternoon you will be driven on to Brasov, surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains and brimming with Saxon heritage. The city’s old town is one of the best preserved in Europe with old fortifications and splendid charm. (B/L)
Accommodation in Brasov: Coroana Brasovului Hotel (or similar)
Start the day with a walking tour of Brasov, including a stop outside the Black Church, the most iconic gothic style monument in the country. After, you’ll continue on to Prejmer where you will visit the UNESCO World Heritage fortified church that’s located here. Lunch is included today at a local restaurant. This afternoon, continue on your journey to Sighisoara, stopping off to see the beautiful gothic church, Saxon houses and local jam manufacturer in Saschiz on the way. Dinner is included this evening at Sighisoara in a Dracula themed restaurant. (B/L/D)

After breakfast this morning you will depart on a walking tour of Sighisoara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Amble along the medieval town’s cobbled streets and as you pass the quirky colourful buildings, enjoy learning about the history of Vlad the Impaler and the towns vampire related history. Depart for Cluj-Napoca, stopping en route at Targu Mures where you will have free time to wander around and stop for lunch at your own leisure. Later on you will arrive in Cluj-Napoa, the second largest city in Romania. The rest of the day is free for you to explore or relax at your hotel. (B)

After breakfast there will be a short tour of Cluj-Napoca, before you continue on to Turda where you will visit the impressive salt mine. Lunch will be en route to Alba Lulia, one of the oldest settlements in Romania, where you will stop for a brief walking tour with your guide. Continue on to Sibiu, Romania’s cultural core which you can explore at your own leisure this afternoon. (B/L)
Accommodation in Sibiu: Hotel Continental Forum (or similar)
This morning your guide will take you on a city tour of Sibiu, including a visit to the Evangelical Church. Enjoy a local lunch en route to Fagaras, where you will stop to visit Fagaras Castle and admire the stunning views of the Transylvanian Alps before driving on to Sinaia. (B/L)
Accommodation in Sinaia: Hotel Palace (or similar)
This morning you will visit Peles Castle, a Neo-Renaissance castle close to Sinaia in the Carpathian Mountains before travelling on to Bran, where you will wander around Bran Castle, which is closely linked to the legend of Dracula. En route to Bucharest you will stop at Halewood cellar for lunch and wine tasting. After, continue your journey to Bucharest and enjoy time at your own leisure before dinner this evening at Caru cu Bere in the city centre. (B/L/D)

After breakfast, enjoy spending this morning at your own leisure. Later on today you will be transferred by private car to Bucharest airport for your flight back to the UK, where you will continue your journey home. (B)
