This journey begins in the Thai capital Bangkok and Amphawa home to a famous floating market. Travel on to Kanchanaburi and the River Kwai in central Thailand taking a train over the Tha Kilen Viaduct to 'Hell Fire Pass' before continuing to ancient Ayutthaya and Bang Pa-In, former summer residence of the Ayutthayan kings. End your journey relaxing on the beach at either Koh Lanta or Krabi.
ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS
Wat Arun in central Bangkok is among the best known of Thailand’s landmarks. Accessed easily by the Chao Phraya River, the Buddhist Temple is encrusted with colourful porcelain.
Kanchanaburi was established in 19th century as a defensive outpost against the Burmese. During WW2 prisoners of war constructed a bridge here for the infamous Burma Railway.
Ayutthaya, about 80kms north of Bangkok was the former capital of Siam until destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. The ruins of the old city now form the Ayutthaya Historical Park.
