Eastern USA Holidays

Defined by its assembly of unmistakable cities and bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, America’s eastern seaboard is a cultural, financial and entertainment behemoth. Here you’ll find the country’s capital city and world-famous Statue of Liberty, the illustrious Liberty Bell and the broadest assortment of museums and art galleries on the planet. Outward looking, progressive and tolerant, during the 19th and 20th centuries it was here that millions of immigrants first set foot on North American soil. For most, New York remains the first port of call and this eclectic city has something for everyone. Try great food, visit fantastic art galleries, climb the Rockefeller Centre and take in a show on Broadway. Historic Philadelphia, a short train ride from the ‘Big Apple’ is fascinating and the place where the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776 whilst Washington DC, is home to an assortment of famous sites including the White House, Smithsonian, Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument.

The best time to visit Eastern USA is generally between April and June, or September and October. At this time of year, the climate is warm with little rainfall, and visitor numbers are lower than during the height of the summer. Sightseeing is a much more enjoyable experience during this period as queues for attractions are shorter and museums and galleries are quieter. Whilst it may be cold in December, it is a magical month to travel to New York. From ice skating in Central Park to the extravagant Christmas decorations lining every street corner, the city is always filled with holiday cheer and spirit. Extreme weather conditions often hit Eastern USA during January and February, so travel should be avoided during these months.
