Today, begin your journey by boarding your international flight to Boston. On arrival you will collect your hire car from the airport and drive to your centrally located hotel. As the leaves turn, Boston’s scenery transforms into a beautiful foliage show that compliments the fantastic historical architecture. Go for a stroll along tree-lined streets or through the stunning parks to experience this natural display for yourself. (N)

Today you might decide to join a sightseeing city tour to soak up the main highlights of this characterful metropolis. Alternatively, if you prefer to explore at your own leisure, then pedestrian-friendly Boston is the perfect place for you to do so. Take your time ambling through this historical city; wander along the freedom trail, which doubles as a foliage tour at this time of year, spot contrasting architecture or sample culinary delights at Quincy Market. This morning you will drive around 3.5 hours north through the quintessential New England countryside of Vermont to Stowe. Traditional white steeple churches, quaint villages and mountain peaks dot the charming landscape of your journey. Break up your journey by stopping off at Woodstock; admire the beautifully restored Georgian houses that surround the town’s green and covered wooden bridge, situated in the town centre. Visit the impressive 165 foot deep, mile-long Quechee Gorge before continuing on your journey. This morning you will drive around 3 hours through the beautiful New Hampshire countryside and mighty White Mountain range, snapping photos of the impressive foliage before reaching North Conway.  En route, you might wish to visit the Rocks Estate where you can enjoy a tour of the farm and learn about the history and importance of maple sugaring in the region. A gateway to mountain adventure, North Conway is a popular, bustling village - the perfect base to explore the White Mountain range. You might choose to spend today visiting New Hampshire’s picturesque lakes region, a popular holiday spot for visitors all year round. Today you will depart New Hampshire for Maine, arriving in beautiful Boothbay Harbour, the ‘boating capital of New England.’ Admire the rugged coastline on a drive along picturesque Ocean Point Road. This afternoon, you might choose to enjoy a relaxing cruise through Boothbay Harbour. Take in the spectacular views of the coast complimented by the seasonal fall, including lighthouses, summer homes and even local wildlife, such as the harbour seals. Enjoy learning about New England’s lobster industry and watch as a lobster trap is pulled aboard the boat to view the day’s catch. (N)

Travel along the spectacular Ocean Drive for around 2 hours this morning, passing through Portland, until you reach Kennebunkport. Bush’s summer home; head out on a whale watching boat tour, hop from local museum to quirky craft store and leave plenty of time and space to enjoy some fresh lobster. This morning, check out of your country inn and begin your 2 hour journey back to Boston International Airport, stopping off at the historical town of Salem if you have time. When you reach the airport, drop your hire car off and board your international flight back to the UK. (B)
