Hue Holidays
An imperial city built on the banks of the Perfume River, Hue was the home of some of Vietnam’s most powerful emperors. Centre of the influential Nguyen dynasty, Hue sat at the heart of a vast Vietnamese empire that stretched from Yunnan in the north to the Gulf of Siam in the south. As the capital, Hue underwent a building programme designed to reflect its power and it soon developed into a city of impressive beauty. Despite the damage caused by the 1968 Tet Offensive, much of this magnificence remains. A highlight of any visit is the UNESCO protected Imperial City, a spectacular complex of palaces, pavilions, gardens and temples similar to Beijing’s Forbidden City. Outside of Hue, visit the Imperial tombs, Thien Mu Pagoda or cycle the scenic countryside to outlying rural villages. We have over 25 years’ experience planning tailor-made holidays and tours to Vietnam.
