Despite the damage caused by the 1968 Tet Offensive, much of this magnificence remains. A highlight of any visit is the UNESCO protected Imperial City, a spectacular complex of palaces, pavilions, gardens and temples similar to Beijing’s Forbidden City. Outside of Hue, visit the Imperial tombs, Thien Mu Pagoda or cycle the scenic countryside to outlying rural villages.
