The city boasts no less than three UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well as many other historical and cultural sites. During your stay visit the impressive Real Alcazar, Seville Cathedral, Giralda and the Plaza de España, all of which offer different architectural styles. Enjoy three nights in this vibrant and beautiful city where you will spend one evening experiencing an unforgettable experience at the opera at the city’s Teatro de la Maestranza, which overlooks the picturesque Canal de Alfonso XIII.

Seville is often described as the birthplace of flamenco. The city offers many bars and bodegas to watch traditional and fiery flamenco alongside a glass of sherry and plate of Iberico ham.

Opt to take a short train ride to the lovely city of Cordoba which once was an important Roman city as well as a major Islamic centre in the Middle Ages. It boasts many wonderful historic and cultural landmarks.

Itinerary: Seville Opera Breaks

Day 1 UK to Seville

This morning begin your journey by boarding your international flight to Seville. On arrival you will be transferred by private car to your hotel in the city centre. The rest of the day is free for you to explore the city at your leisure. You may wish to take a wander to the grandiose Plaza de España located in the Parque del Maria Luisa. This extravagant building was created for the 1929 Exposicion Iberoamericana, and whilst it is slightly over the top, it remains an impressive structure with its flamboyant neo-Mudejar architecture, Venetian-style bridges, ceramic tiles and fountains. In the evening you may be interested in visiting a flamenco bar to experience this traditional Spanish dance. (N)

Day 2 Seville

Today you are at leisure to explore the Andalucian capital. We would recommend visiting the Real Alcazar, a magnificent marriage of Mudejar and Christian architecture. This spectacular royal palace is a must-see during your visit to Seville where the complex of rooms boasts airy courtyards, elegant columns, arabesque arches and geometric tiling. The gardens are even more exquisite; take a stroll through the symmetrical groves of orange trees, cypresses and magnolias, or cool off by the beautiful fountains and mirrored pools. You may wish to continue to the Seville Cathedral, one of the world’s largest and most magnificent cathedrals which is also located in the city’s old Jewish quarter. Registered in 1987 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, highlights include the building’s beautiful Gothic architecture, colourful stained glass windows and the Giralda, the mighty bell tower which incorporates the original mosque’s minaret. Day 3 Seville

You have another day at leisure to explore Seville or the surrounding area. You may wish to take the easy train journey (c. 45 minutes) to the lovely city of Cordoba which boasts many historical and cultural sites. During your visit to Cordoba we recommend visiting La Mezquita, an impressive mosque from 784 A.D. which is home to Byzantine mosaics and a notable prayer hall, the Roman Bridge of Cordoba and the medieval Alcazar. Alternatively, if you wish to stay in Seville, why not spend the day wandering through the different neighbourhoods and take a stroll to the riverfront where the Guadalquivir River cuts a straight course through the city. Cross the river to the Triana district which is associated with flamenco, tapas and sherry bars. This evening enjoy your chosen opera performance at Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza. (B)

Day 4 Seville to the UK

Enjoy your last morning in Seville before returning to the UK. Take a private transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK. (B)
