It has been just over 100 years since the very first opera performance of Aida took place in Verona's Roman amphitheatre. Every year from June to August, thousands of people travel to Verona to experience one of the world's most magical opera festivals. With around 15,000 people at each performance, the Arena di Verona transforms the smaller, more intimate performances such as La Boheme and La Traviata into enchanting productions and showcases the raw emotion and captivating story of Verdi’s Aida perfectly. Whilst in Verona, enjoy exploring the medieval old town and follow cobbled paths that wind their way to pretty piazzas, authentic local eateries and boutique designer shops. Climb the 238 steps to the top of the Lamberti tower and soak up the panoramic views across the city, admire renaissance art and ancient sculptures in the Castelvecchio and catch a glimpse of the Juliet’s iconic balcony at Casa di Giulietta.
