India Train Holidays
There is no better way to experience India than by train. This is a land synonymous with rail travel, a country with a rail network that covers almost the entire country, is the world’s eighth biggest employer and transports an astonishing 20 million passengers a day. Indian trains are comfortable and clean – the regular intercity services are roomy, air conditioned and efficient and there are a number of fabulous iconic rail lines including the UNESCO protected hill railways of Darjeeling, Shimla and Ooty. Stations are usually chaotic affairs – a surge of commuters and chaiwalas, red-robed porters and food vendors all vying for space which certainly adds to the adventure. It is generally easy to include a rail journey in almost any Indian itinerary and we will be happy to advise you on the different options.
