Accommodation

The ranch offers 10 guests rooms in total, which are spread across two separate guest buildings, all with en-suite bathrooms and tasteful, modern Western-style decor. Each oversized guest room has a wheelchair-accessible bathroom, and all guest rooms have stunning views of the beautiful Hualapai Mountains. In addition to the guest rooms, there are also two 'Family Homes', each with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room area and a fireplace. The Family Rooms can sleep between four to eight guests - ideal for larger parties. Stagecoach Trails accommodates up to 40 guests at any one time - a number small enough to maintain a friendly, sociable environment.

Dining

Three delicious meals are served daily, except Sundays, when a mouth-watering buffet brunch will be served, to allow your hard-working cook a well-earned morning off, and the ranch staff to attend church with any guests who may wish to. Delightful desserts, fresh home-cooked breads, cookies and snacks are also provided, as well as popcorn in the main Lodge upon request. Other snacks and drinks are available to purchase in the lodge. The majority of meals are served buffet-style, with a couple of sit down meals each week. When weather permits, dinner will occasionally be enjoyed outdoors under the starry night sky (not usually in winter, as the desert can get cold at night). The ranch does not have an alcohol licence, so if you would like to enjoy a beer or a glass of wine after a day in the saddle, please bring your own. The nearest place to purchase alcohol is a 45 minute drive away.

Horse Riding

The horseback riding programme offered to guests of the Stagecoach Trails Ranch is second to none, since they feature riding experiences to suit all abilities, from gentle, slow walking rides, to exciting fast trotting/lopping rides. You can choose what type of ride you want to go on - you won't be told which ride you should. Novice riders can begin their ranch experience with slow, scenic rides, whilst experienced riders have many options, including challenging mountain rides (only during the cooler months between September to April). The ranch wranglers are friendly and personable, as are the horses. Each of the horses has its own distinct personality, and the ranch staff will ensure that you are matched up with the appropriate companion to suit your riding ability. Once you are mounted up and head off on your chosen ride, all you will see is beautiful desert scenery surrounded by three mountain ranges - not a city, motorway or house in sight! With tens of thousands of acres of land, you will be spoilt for choice of which trail to take. Horseback rides are offered twice daily, except on Sundays, when the horses and wranglers have a day's rest. All-day rides, half day lunch rides, night rides and speciality rides are also offered seasonally. Accessible riding equipment is available, so everyone is able to participate in the riding programme with no restrictions. All riders will be tested on their ability to assure safety before riding. The owners, Dan and Carrie Rynders, have a 28-year old handicapped daughter, so have first hand knowledge of what needs disabled visitors have. A riding arena is available to any disabled riders who cannot ride on his/her own on the trails. A ramp is provided for wheelchairs, so that mounting a horse will be nearly as easy as getting in to a car. The Arizona desert can be extremely hot between May and September, and temperatures during the middle of the day can be a little extreme to ride in. Therefore, during these months, horseback rides will leave around 7am in the morning, and between 4pm and 6pm in the evening. During the rest of the year, rides go out around 9:15am and 11am, and in the afternoon between 2:15 and 4pm. On the day you check in, rides leave the corral at 4pm (between September to April) and 4:30pm (October to May). If it is your first time visiting Stagecoach Trails, or if it has been over a year since you last stayed, your first trail ride on arrival will be a mandatory walking only ride. After this ride, you are welcome to ride at your own ability and try out the more challenging rides if you are comfortable and capable, and the wranglers are happy that you are also.

Children

Children aged 8 and over are permitted to ride on the trails with their own horse under their own guidance. Children between the ages of 6 and 7 may be permitted to ride on the trails whilst being "ponied" by one of the ranch's wranglers, but this will be at the discretion of Carrie Rynders. "Ponied" means that a lead wrangler will fasten a long rope around the neck of the child's horse, and hold onto the rope for the duration of the ride. This ensures that the horse will not run off, or become out of control. Children 5 years old and younger can ride inside of the arena, and short, slow walking rides with side walkers are guided around the ranch, or down the driveway and back. This opportunity offers the little ones a magical riding experience outside of the restricted arena, whilst keeping them safe and under control at all times.

Activities and Facilities

Asides from horse riding, there is a great variety of activities to keep you entertained at the Stagecoach Trails Ranch, which you can be as involved in as you wish. From lazing around the swimming pool, to chilling out and sharing stories with your fellow guests in the Frontier Lodge, quality relaxation is easily achievable here. Unwind under the stars in the year-round hot tub as you reflect on the day gone by and soothe any saddle sores. For the more active guests, why not challenge your friends, family or other guests to a game of horseshoes, basketball, air hockey, ping pong or board games? The Lodge is the heart of the ranch, where everyone gathers together of an evening to share stories about their days, how the riding went, what local attractions they visited, and what they are up to the next day. The huge fireplace here is a major feature, and there is also a pool table and a separate TV room, if you feel the need to catch up with life away from the ranch. The Lodge and dining areas have been built with wheelchair users in mind - the owners have taken great care to ensure that there are no barriers anywhere, and the swimming pool and hot tub have been built with wheelchair accessibility in mind.

Getting to Stagecoach Trails Ranch

Las Vegas is the nearest airport to the Stagecoach Trails Ranch, at around 2.5 hours' drive away. Transfers are not available - we recommend hiring a car and driving from Las Vegas. Tying this up with a visit to the Grand Canyon would provide a truly unforgettable holiday.

USA : White Stallion Ranch Holiday Review

We have just returned from our holiday absolutely buzzing! We had the time of our lives! Thank you very much for your part. Very well done.

As for a trip highlight, the breakfast rides were our stand-out favourite. A gentle, early morning ride out to their cook-out spot, to be met by a super breakfast being cooked fresh on the camp stove. Just amazing.
