This journey through rural northeast India includes two visits to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kaziranga National Park which is home to the largest population of one-horned rhino. Take a jeep safari through Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is famous for its population of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros as well as Indian elephant, water buffalo, sambar, tiger and python.
Visit the largest inhabited river-island in the world – Majuli Island – home to the Vaishnavite community and tribal groups. The beautiful rural setting is also a paradise for avid birdwatchers.
Explore the city of Sivasagar which was the one-time capital during Assam’s Ahom period. Visit stupa-like temples and distinctive palaces as well as a traditional tea plantation to learn about the tea production process.

Itinerary: Cruising the Upper Brahmaputra - From Silghat to Dibrugarh
After an early breakfast travel to Kaziranga National Park’s Central Range where you will embark on a morning jeep safari. Kaziranga National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is home to the world's largest population of the one-horned rhinoceros. It is estimated that over 1,000 of these endangered creatures currently live in Kaziranga National Park. Other species found here include the Bengal tiger, water buffalo, elephant and bison and there is also a wide variety of birdlife where you will have the chance to see the Oriental honey buzzard, black-shouldered kite, Himalayan griffon and white-tailed eagle. Later that afternoon return to the ship where you will cruise upstream to moor overnight at Vishnath. (B/L/D)
Today take another jeep safari to Kaziranga National Park where this time you will explore the little-visited Eastern Range. Home to rolling grassland and marshy swamps, this is the prime area for spotting rhino as well as the extremely rare Bengal florican. After exploring this spectacular national park return to the boat where you will continue to cruise upstream passing riverside villages and rural countryside. (B/L/D)
Today will mostly be spend onboard cruising upstream on the mighty Brahmaputra River so relax on the sundeck and take in the beautiful scenery of this rural part of India. Stop off at local villages located on the riverbank where you will have the opportunity to meet various communities and tribal groups and get an authentic insight into daily life. Back onboard continue your river cruise journey upstream. (B/L/D)
After breakfast arrive at Majuli Island which is the world’s largest inhabited river-island. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has long served as a monastic retreat to the local Vaishnavite community and is a stronghold of traditional Assamese and Mishing culture and architecture. Visit a monastery at Auniati before attending a dance performance at the Kamalabari sanctuary. That afternoon cruise to Neamati on the opposite bank and visit a local village. Enjoy dinner onboard against the tranquil backdrop of the Brahmaputra River. (B/L/D)
This morning take a trip to the Haru Charai tea estate. Learn about the tea production process and sample the delicate tea whilst admiring the beautiful views overlooking the plantation. Continue by road to the city of Sivasagar which was the one-time capital during Assam’s Ahom period. The Ahoms ruled for some 700 years until the 1820’s in which their culture was a mix of both Indian and Southeast Asian influences. Visit Sivasagar’s stupa-like temples and distinctive palaces including the ruins of the 18th century Talatal Ghar and the picturesque pavilion of Rang Ghar. Return to the ship and moor overnight near Sivasagar. (B/L/D)
