Cambodia is home to many flowing rivers, however not many compare in size and importance than the Mekong. Starting high up in the Tibetan plateau, the Mekong flows all the way to the Vietnamese Delta in southern Vietnam passing Burma, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia along the way. Stretching over 480km through Cambodia, the Mekong has played an integral part in Cambodian life and history providing important trade routes to the rest of the region and plentiful agricultural opportunities for local villages. Today river cruises are a popular way to explore the rural countryside and remote villages of Cambodia and offer a relaxing and beautiful route between Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Saigon. Joining a river cruise will allow visitors to get up close to local communities, discover the diverse bird and wildlife and visit ancient Pre-Angkorian temples as well as cruising through the beautiful Cambodian countryside. Pandaw and Heritage Line are both excellent choices for a river cruise in Cambodia.
