Thailand Wildlife Holidays
Thailand has over a hundred national parks and protected areas, some of which are very close to major cities and popular sights. Khao Yai National Park, the oldest in the kingdom and founded in 1962, is Thailand’s premier reserve. This spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site is a morning’s drive from capital Bangkok, is home to wild elephant, civet cat, porcupine, macaque and deer and has phenomenal bird watching – the highlight being the great hornbill. In the south of the country, the thick bamboo forests and tropical jungles of Khao Sok National Park are incredibly diverse with tapir, elephant, gibbon, langur and the exceptionally rare Indochinese tiger, all recently recorded.
