Canada Train Journeys
With over 14,000kms of track, sections of which traverse large swathes of the country’s remote and rugged interior, rail travel in Canada has retained a pioneering and adventurous spirit. When the Canadian Pacific was completed in 1885 it was, briefly, the longest in the world and linked Ontario with British Columbia – its success leading to further transcontinental routes. Today regular services connect the Atlantic and Pacific coasts providing a comfortable and relaxing way to see the spectacular Canadian interior. There are a number of iconic train journeys including the classic Rocky Mountaineer, one of the regular fast services that link Montreal and Toronto or, Canada’s best kept secret, the Skeena that travels between Jasper and Prince Rupert. For the more adventurous, board the beautiful stainless-steel ‘Canadian’ on its three-day sleeper journey through the forests, plains and mountains that stand between Toronto and Vancouver.
