When is the best time to visit Armenia?
For such a small country the topography of landlocked Armenia has resulted in a range of different climates that vary considerably depending on altitude. Summers are warm and dry whilst spring and autumn can be cool overnight but pleasant during the day. Rain can occur in early spring so it is generally considered that the best time to visit Armenia is from the end of May to early November. Winters can be cold and higher elevations can experience significant snowfall..
Do I need a visa to travel to Armenia?
British citizens do not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days.
How long is the flight to Armenia from the UK?
There is no direct air connection between Armenia the UK so all flights stop en-route. As a result, flights to Yerevan take around 8 to 9 hours.
What currency is used in Armenia?
The currency of Armenia is the Armenian Dram with both US Dollars and Pound Sterling easy to exchange in larger towns and cities. ATM machines can be found throughout Armenia whilst credit cards are accepted throughout the country.
What languages are spoken in Armenia?
The official language of Armenia is Armenian but, due to historical ties, many Armenians speak Russian as a second language. English is increasingly common and spoken mostly by the younger generation.

What are the most important cathedrals and monasteries in Armenia?
Armenia is known for its ecclesiastical architecture and is home to a wonderful collection of cathedrals and monasteries. Prime among them is Echmiadzin Cathedral, which was built in the 4th century and one of the oldest churches in the world, and the grand Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Yerevan. Monasteries such as those at Khor Virap, Goshavank, Noravank, Tatev and Geghard remain important pilgrimage centres and have spectacular mountain settings.
